Discovering Your Creative Side with IDO3D

Toys that challenge your child and encourage their curiosity make the best kind of toys. My daughter is very artistic and loves creating things. The more creative, the better! If your child is too then they will love finding a brand new fun and quirky gift under the tree this year.

I am finding that my daughter loves art and crafts as she gets older, so I want to do my best to get her gifts that will appeal to her creative and curious mind. The IDO3D Ultra Set will definitely be something that would do just that. The IDO3D Ultra Set is a unique way to build 3D creations using specially filled gel pens and a UV light to dry your designs as you work. It is fun tool to play around with.

With these 3D pens, it's easy to create beautiful 3D art without any special skills. You simply draw your creations, much like using a normal pencil, only with three dimensions. Children can use these 3D pens to really unleash their creative minds. It's as easy as 1, 2, 3D!!!

IDO3D have a wide range of sets equipped with amazing designs and different coloured pens from all price ranges and ability levels. So there will be a set out out there for everyone from beginners to the more apt of designers. We were kindly send over the IDO3D Ultra Set which included 3D stencils, spotlight and tracing sheet to allow imaginations to run wild! There was also 8 coloured pen to choose from (Beige, Blue, Brown, Green, Pink, Purple, Red, and Yellow) to help create some amazing 3D designs.

With this set you can create up to 20 different IDO3D projects with the eight colours included. However it does need to be noted that this number is only an estimate as the number of projects will vary according to ink usage.

How Did We Find the IDO3D Set?

Drawing in 3D is not something that comes naturally (well, for me anyway), but the the fact that IDO3D Ultra Set actually encourages you to keep drawing without too many problems, which is a great thing. Drawing with the IDO3D pens feel quite nice in the hand, just like an actual pen. The controls are simple, and it feels good in the hand.

It was unfortunate for us that after about a half hour or so, several of the pens clogged. We decided to put the lids of the pens in some warm water, which did the trick and we were back in business. As tracing paper and the tips of the needles can get fairly sticky, it is always a good idea to keep a damp cloth or kitchen roll nearby. If the tips get tacky they can make contact with the UV light, resulting in a bit of a mess.

The IDO3D Ultra Set contains compact 3D pens which fit well into small hands. Due to the cooling and hardening of the plastic very quickly, there is never a risk of burning. They are so simple to use. Just unscrew the cap, then snap the lid onto the pen and squeeze into place. When you do it for the first time, it can seem a little tricky, but they eventually screw into place.

Designing Our Creations

We were eager to unleash our creative imaginations and let them run wild. The IDO3D Ultra Set has been designed with an intermediate designer in mind so we knew it would take some time to get our head around. Although we started with the Giraffe, we encountered some teething problems because we didn't begin with the outline, resulting in our Giraffe breaking. However, we tried again and had some success after making a few of the other creations and even making some of our own.

We were both impressed with IDO3D Ultra Set and found that letting my daughter gain a little independence and make something on her own was a worthwhile experience. Drawing in 3D teaches STEM skills as well as a variety of dynamics associated with them. It was a particularly good for my daughter because she had to figure out the best way to make her model stick together and remain sturdy, while unleashing her imagination. The perfect gift for Christmas.

The IDO3D range is available from Smyths Toys, Amazon and The Entertainer. You can choose from 2 pens, 4 pens and 8 pens sets that all range in different prices.
