The Body Shop Aloe Vera Range

|
Over the last few months I have been working really hard to develop a brand new skincare routine, that saw me chuck out every single skincare product I owned out and part with some serious cash to develop a new one. It has been hit and miss at times with some products, but I can confidently say that it's had a dramatic impact on my skin. However, now that we are getting into the colder months I know that my skin will struggle when battling the elements and become red, sore and sensitive. So now seems the perfect time to try a range that is soothing and calming for the skin. The Body Shop produces so many ranges of skincare, but I absolutely adore Aloe Vera. It's fantastic for sensitive skin and is best known for its healing, soothing and nourishing qualities. I already used their soothing day cream and their soothing night cream so I decided get more products from the range and use them in my new routine.

Aloe Calming Foaming Facial Wash. £8.00/150ml

First thing in the morning, always cleanse your skin with water, then a foam based cleanser. Water removes the few impurities that settle on the face during the night, and keeps skin hydrated, too. Foam cleansers are just that: cleansers that have some sort of foaming, sudsy quality to them. They’re usually suggested for oily and acne-prone skin types since they are meant to deep clean the skin by getting rid of excess oil and sebum, as well as work to uproot any debris stuck in your pores, helping to keep your skin clean and refreshed. My favourite one is this Aloe Calming Foaming Facial Wash from the Body Shop. This gentle cleanser will leave your skin feeling clean, fresh and calmed. And it's amazing for those with sensitive skin. I have been using this facial wash every morning for the past few weeks, and I can already feel the benefits. I'm not going to sit here and write that I have a clear complexion that's blemish free, but this foaming cleanser has most definitely made a difference already.

Aloe Calming Cream Cleanser. £8.00/150ml

I can't say that I am fan of cream cleanser for single cleansing, I am more of a double cleanser anyway. So if I don't use my Caudalie Cleansing Oil to remove my makeup, I will go for a cream cleanser. I will use the cleanser on dry skin to make sure that I get all those impurities and help unclog mu pores. I love this Aloe Calming Cream Cleanser its a comforting rich cream that moisturises and helps to gently cleanse my sensitive skin. The texture of the cream is very thick, and it last ages. I got this bottle a while a go and it's still going strong. Whenever I think my bottle is nearly done I still manage to squeeze out enough for it to last a good few months. Just make sure you shake it up well enough and it will keep coming out. And that is the only dislike I have about this product the packaging. You cannot see how much is left because the bottle is opaque.

Aloe Calming Toner. £8.00/150ml

Toner is not for everyone, now I must admit before adapting a new skin care routine I wasn't entirely sure what the purpose for a toner was and whether it actually helps the skin. So even though a toner is easily the most misunderstood skin care product and way more important than it receives credit for. Toner is the first barrier product you apply – good toner balances your skin’s PH, and is intended to hydrate – not strip your skin. But balance the skin's pH levels, it's important to apply toner; otherwise the skin can become dry and dehydrated. Toner further helps to absorb the next products you apply. My favourite toner is from the body shop and their Aloe Calming Toner that gently tone, prime and refresh your skin with our soothing toner. Aloe effectively removes residual impurities, to refresh and clarify sensitive skin.

Aloe Soothing Day Cream £13.00/50ml

A good moisturiser is a must have for me, and a must have for everyone. Whatever you do, never skip on the moisturiser. I tend to kick this up a notch and slather it on my skin during the autumn and winter as this is when my skin needs it the most. It struggles to battle the elements at times. This Aloe Soothing Day Cream is my absolute favourite! I haven't tried anything that can even compare to this little beauty. This moisturiser is cooling to the skin, nice texture, no scent, great for sensitive skin. It is lightweight but very hydrating, providing all the moisture without leaving my skin looking greasy. It leaves my skin feeling soft and hydrating and takes away any feelings of tightness, drying or irritation. A great all rounder! A one that is a must try for those with sensitive skin.

Aloe Soothing Night Cream. £14.00/50ml

A night time moisturiser to keep those skin loving ingredients locked in, allowing you to wake to a beautifully rejuvenated complexion. Now, for my night cream, my gem is the Aloe Soothing Night Cream from The Body Shop. All year round. I use it every night after cleansing as it moisturises and soothes dry or irritated skin, and when I wake up my skin feels cool and soft to the touch. It may seem heavier than most night creams, but it's great for your skin. Just like the moisturiser you use on your face, the one you put on your body needs to be better at locking in moisture too.

In a nutshell, this Aloe range is amazing for those who have sensitive skin, whether you have one product or every single product available in the range. It's going to good for your skin. It will help calm and soothe skin especially during the winter months.

Have you tried anything from the Aloe range? If so what did you use? Is there another range you'd recommend?

Remington PROluxe Rose Gold Hair Dryer

|
People are often so busy that they rarely take the time to even think about time for themselves. I know about this only too well, and even though I always try to make a conscious effort, life can just get in the way. As a work from home mum my life is basically a big balancing act, juggling my work load, being a mother, being a wife and all things in the home. Me time is rare, and when I do manage to get some time to myself I'm too tired to enjoy it and end up napping on the sofa before bedtime. So it's important for me to try different ways to make sure that my body and of course my hair don't suffer the consequences of a lack of me time. Who really has the time for a hair mask twice a week anyway? I wanted to share a new discovery I had made recently in the form of this gorgeous Remington PROluxe Salon Hair Dryer. It dries my hair quicker than anything has ever before and I need to tell you about it.

The PROluxe Salon Hair Dryer in Rose Gold. First, can we take the time to appreciate it's beauty. Seriously how pretty is this hair dryer? I am sure you know that I have this thing about Rose Gold, being the magpie I am I was completely drawn to this pretty dryer. It's most definitely pleasing to the eye. I can't say I have ever had a hairdryer this colour before, so for the first few months I was very careful not wanting to damage or leave marks. The hair dryer has been designed to dry hair fast, with minimal damage. The PROluxe range was released a while ago but wasn't sure at first until someone with Instragram worthy hair encouraged me go in search of the range, after I did my hairdryer stopped working, so it was fate.

I don't now about you, but when it comes to a hairdryer I love a powerful one. Mine old hairdryer was that powerful it would actually trip out the electrics at the in-laws, not good. But it was so powerful and would dry my hair in a matter of minutes. So when I look for a hairdryer there are certain specs that I tend to keep my eyes peeled for. The look, lightness, low noise and high speed ensuring drying as quickly and efficiently. And that's why the Remington Proluxe hair dryer is a perfect combination of professionalism and amazing functionality. With intelligent OPTIheat technology and the unique Style Shot feature, the PROluxe dryer cleverly uses heat to shape, sculpt, and lock your style in place. The ionic hairdryer is the key to frizz free shine, with 90% more ions working to smooth hair cuticles for a healthy looking and flawless finish. Nobody wants a crazy cave woman hairstyle.

So if your hair is dry, damaged, or frizzy, an ionic hair dryer is the magic wand that will end all of your hair troubles. The ionic technology works by breaking down water molecules in your hair to speed up the drying time. The negative ions released by the dryer seal the cuticles and preserve the natural oils and moisture present in the hair shaft. A no-brainer. This is an incredible hair dryer, fast, easy to use, not heavy, easy to grip when going over hair sections. You don’t need to use the other accessories if I am honest,  as the air flow in place helps dry the hair section leaving your hair smooth, frizz free and shiny. I cannot praise this hair dryer enough.

Remington has produced an extremely powerful hairdryer where you can feel the strength of the airflow as it dries your hair. The two nozzles and diffuser included makes it simple to style your tresses as desired and the white and rose gold design means it looks good on your dressing table too. The heat and power settings are located on the front and rather than a cool shot, there’s a slider switch at the top that you can use to change the temperature to either hot or cold. It’s a slick hairdryer that takes minimal effort to use and achieve smooth and static-free hairstyles.

The PROluxe hairdryer itself works brilliantly. It dries my hair quicker but seemingly with less heat. Only major disappointment is that the dryer scratches really easily. I store my hairdryer in a drawer on top on some liners to try and keep that to a minimum. It's such a shame because I loved the way it looked and I really want to buy the matching straighteners and wand but for a dryer itself. Even though this had put me off slightly this dryer certainly packs a punch.

Have you heard of the PROluxe range? Or used any products from Remington? If so, what are your favourites?

BeautyPro Detoxifying Bubbling Mask with Activated Charcoal

|
Sheet masks are having more than just a moment right now. While they might have been around for years it's not something that many of us always make time for, however more and more celebrities are getting behind the trend with their sheet mask selfies. It’s no surprise that some brands have introduced floral and panda-face designs in an attempt to make them more visually appealing. The growing appreciation of K-beauty (Korean-inspired) has encourage to take more steps in our beauty routines. To say that I am obsessed with the current trends is an understatement. This year I have had an overhaul in my skincare routine and implemented more steps from the K-beauty routine to try and get flawless skin. I have had a big shake up in my morning routine and started to add more steps in my evening routine, one that has become my favourite is the sheet mask.

But for those who are not familiar with sheet masks, you really need to get familiar. They are a game changer for a great skincare routine. These wonder masks hydrate, soothe and smooth the skin using fresh, raw and all-natural ingredients. Being a parent to a feisty four year old, you could say that I am prone to late nights a few times a week, so using a sheet mask can made such a difference. I haven't been feeling very well this week, so what better way to make myself feel better than with a hot bubble bath, candles, tea and a good sheet mask. Last month I discovered this little gem in the latest GLOSSYBOX, which you should most definitely subscribed to by the way. BeautyPro Detoxifying Bubbling Mask with Activated Charcoal. A self-foaming sheet mask bubbles to create a micro massage that cleanses the skin of impurities and blackheads. Utilising Activated Charcoal and a rich AHA complex created from Lime, Lemon, Apple, Orange and Grapefruit, this detoxifying mask is also suitable for acne prone skin.

You basically start off your little facial by massaging the pouch to activate the ingredients, ensuring that you get the most from your sheet mask. Remove the mask from the packaging. The mask itself will be black in colour and be very wet, so make sure you try and unfold the mask carefully so you get all the goodness on your face and not on the dressing table. Place the mask over your face using the eye holes and mouth hole as a guide, this is always the odd part, wear your mask for at least ten minutes so the mask can fully foam. While the foaming process does it's thing I gave my face a little massage spreading the contents on my forehead and chin too. After ten minutes, simply remove the mask and rinse off with warm water.

What can I say about this mask - Amazing!! Lately I have become somewhat obsessed with sheet masks, however a foaming sheet mask is something completely new to me and I have not seen something like this from any other beauty brand out there. I couldn't wait to try this and at first it did feel kind of strange when it began to foam on my face but it left me with beautiful, clean, radiant skin afterwards. The quality of the mask is shown by the results from the foam of the mask as it did not slide on my face and it kept foaming. For anyone out there who wants to try a sheet mask I would say for the great price, quality of the sheet mask itself and the great ingredients - This one is for you.

8 Things I'm Guilty of Doing Just Before My Husband Gets Home From Work

|
As much as I would love to pretend that I am some kind of 1950s housewife, I am not! Not in the slightest. I like to rock a mum bun hair style more often that I probably should do, I don't own a set of pearls and my heels are collecting dust in my wardrobe. I am far from a perfect wife, there are things that I am guilty of doing in the minutes before my husband walks in the door for the evening, because let’s face it I am busy work from home mum and the the owner of a four year old dictator!

1. Completing the “Daddy Dash”

Yes, this is totally a thing! And perhaps you are guilty of doing the Daddy Dash without even realising. But it's a little game that you can trick little ones into playing and encourage them to pick up their toys  “First one to pick up all the toys wins!!”. It's especially cute when my daughter says that she wants to be Cinderella, gets into her princess dress and uses her own little cleaning set to help! It's cute, but she actually helps! Sucker.

2. Lighting a Candle

Does the house still smell of last nights dinner? Perhaps one of the children has decided to poo in the downstairs loo with the door open? Nothing is quite like the sweet aroma of toddler poop in the home, so I like to light my big vanilla yankee candle and a cinnamon candle melt too. If you're feeling quite creative you could buy candles or melts that smell of cookies or cakes, making them think that you've been slaving over the oven with a batch of freshly baked treats. Just hide the packaging from a quick dash to the shop in the afternoon school pick up.

3. Brushing Your Hair for the First Time All Day.

As you already know, I love to rock a messy mum bun. It's practical, I can do my hair in seconds. Job done. However, just as my husband get homes I try and tame my unruly wavy and try to give myself a 'my hair is lustrous and in place' kind of look. Heck, sometimes, I even get really ambitious, depending on the level of drama that the day has inflicted upon me, and throw on some makeup, too. Not for my husband’s sake, but more for my sake, because it kind of forces me to remind myself that I am a person, not a mombie!

4. Changing into Something Other than Pjs or "Work Out" Gear.

Now when I say "work out" gear, you know I mean some lovely navy jogging bottoms and hoody. Who has time to actually take the time to work out everyday? I always have great intentions, but each day my list of tasks grows, and then these mate with the other tasks and makes babies. Yep not happening. So just before the husband walks in the door it's only fair that I look a little presentable and put some jeans and a tee that doesn't have toddler dribbles or mummy dribbles from lunch on!

5. ZOFLORA!

Yes, Zoflora! Will be you best friend. Get yourself a little hairstyle spritz bottle, fill it half with this wonder disinfectant and half water and spray EVERYTHING! Kitchen sides, the toilet, cushions, curtains, carpets or even the kids! Just make sure they shut their eyes. Ha!

6. 'Easy' Laundry

To make it look as if I have been busy all day. I will whack a quick 'easy' load in the washing machines, something like towels or blankets. Normally, I fold all of our clothes on our bed, but if I’m feeling particularly unproductive I will leave the laundry strategically placed on the kitchen table so it’s obvious I was working hard all day.

7. Leave the Breakfast Dishes Last Minute.

Who really has the time to clean their kitchen 5748495 times? Nope, I didn't think so! So what better way to let it pile up until I really need to. So the breakfast and lunch dishes can be cleaned at the same time. Why clean the kitchen three times a day if you can just do it in once in one frenzied half-hour?

8. Strategically Leave Cleaning Products (and the vaccum) Out for All Eyes to See.

Most of the day is spend either cleaning or blogging. There's nothing like leaving out strategically placing cleaning product to fool my husband that I have been hard at working all day. Better, yet! Baby wipes. You’ll be amazed, truly, by how much cleaning you can get done with 10 minutes, a four year old, desperation, and an entire package of baby’s wet wipes. They save lives! Begin the vacuuming just as he walks through the door. Oh, you’re home? I didn’t even notice what time it was, I’m so busy vacuuming, as you can see. Be a love, and put the tea in the oven.

Are there things you are guilty of doing just before your husband, wife or partner walk in?

12 Things That Have Made Me Happy This Month

|
We all have great days where everything seems to go to plan and anything you set out to do goes well without any curve balls be thrown into the mix. Then there are days where we have absolutely no motivation, no drive and any plans we may have made go completely tits up and out of the window. The days that are not so perfect can make us bitter, makes us angry and leaves us focusing on all that is negative. This happens to me more often than not and instead of focusing on the negative I just have to take a step back from life and recognise the good in my life - put everything into perspective. I love reading these kind of posts, so I thought today, I’d sit down and talk about 12 things that made me happy this past month...

It’s Autumn, Finally!

Yep I’m one of those annoying people who have been counting down the days of summer and getting too excited about welcoming the cooler weathers. Autumn has to be, by far, my favourite season of the year. There's nothing quite like looking at the changing colours of nature, the fresh crisp air, chunky knits, tan boots, cinnamon scents, and not forgetting berry coloured lipsticks. I'm definitely looking forward to snuggling up in blankets and reading a good book whilst watching the rain outside in the coming months. Don’t even get me start on my love of berry lipsticks and pumpkin spiced lattes.

My Girl Started School.

I guess this one is a little bittersweet for me. It was hard to watch my girl walk into yet another milestone, however at the same time I couldn't be prouder of her. Proud of the beautiful little person she has become, proud of her confidence, proud of her kindness, proud of my daughter. I really hope that school is everything she wants and more and that she shows her sparkle and never changes. We are two weeks in and she has adapted pretty well, she did have a little wobble towards the end of her first week. But I guess that's to be expected.

Mrs Hinch & The #HinchArmy.

If you don't know who this lady is have you been living under a rock? For those of you who love keeping your houses looking in tip-top condition, Mrs Hinch is definitely a name to get familiar with. The cleaning phenomenon has recently taken the Internet by storm with an Instagram account dedicated to the cleaning of her immaculate home, providing top tips and cheap buys for her 'Hinch Army'. I must say that this is one instastories I love to watch and her account has really helped me give myself a kick up the bum and have a show home just like Mrs Hinch. The best discovery from this account was that I never knew that Zoflora had so many uses and you can buy them in bulk! If you do one thing today go and have a peek, I know for a fact you'll become obsessed and go cleaning mad.

Booked a Birthday Treat.

My husband and I have a birthday a day a part and this year my husband turns the big 3-0. So we thought that we should do something a little different and make his 30th birthday celebrations special and booked a weekend away. I am so excited. It's not often that we get to go away together, unless it's during the summer holiday so we are all looking forward to our time away. What says romance more than a hot tub hideaway? Grange Farm Park is a small picturesque, exclusive family owned and run park set in the heart of tranquil countryside and just a short drive from Mablethorpe, Lincoln. And there is so much to do around here and I am sat here wondering how much we can cram into three days?

Mama went out out!

Yes, I did! Mama went out out! It's been a little while since I have been out with friends. So last weekend I dusted off my heels, had a couple of glasses of wine got ready to go out out! It was my sister's birthday and she wanted to go out for a meal and enjoy a couple of cocktails, which we did so gracefully! However, not sure if it's my age or the fact the four year old decided to get me up at 5 that morning, but I was shattered. Too many drinks and a taxi home by 12. My twenty year old self would be ashamed.

Stepping Outside My Comfort Zone with Clothing.

Now that Autumn is here I want to change my wardrobe and I must say that I am a little tired of wearing the same clobber. So stepping outside of my comfort zone with clothing is something that I have been doing a lot more of. Mustard. Yep, I have decided to be a little daring and dabble with a little colour. Mustard is a warm yellow. I think of mustard as a yellow with a little brown but that description really limits the colour to super warm color palettes. So, I chose yellows that are slightly muted, golden or a little brown. And I have to say I really love the colour on me. I got this gorgeous textured mustard blazer and it's be a great way to transition into Autumn clothing.

New £5 Skinny Jeans

Yep, so keeping with the fashion theme something that has made me super happy this month was discovering lots of great deals, everywhere I shop had a sale on this weekend and if I see great value I have to indulge. However, there are always times where I you pick up a great bargain too and this time it was this amazing new skinny jeans from Matalan that were like £5! They are not normally a colour I go for as I have very chunky thighs, but these are skinny fit and high waisted. The perfect pair of jeans.

A New Skincare Routine

I have been having a little problem with my skin at the moment. My complexion is far from desirable and I had a terrible breakout and no matter what foundation I use, it just slips off my skin in an instant. And so I have decided to have a skincare overhaul and adapt a new skin care routine and chuck out everything I used and started from scratch. I am a few months into the new routine and so far my skin is feeling more nourished and certainly hydrated. As you may know I have finally cracked the perfect morning routine that actually works. So now it's all about my developing an evening routine that works too and I have been loving my new skin care routine for the evening

Twitter Girls.

The blogging community is amazing. It's strange to think that you can begin to make great friends through a blog. There is a whole community who understand the whole passion of the perfect Instagram photo, the pressures of followers and engagement. Not forgetting the importance of making sure that your SEO is on point, even though many of us have yet to master the whole idea of SEO. But being a blogger has opened up many doors to new friendships who are always on the end of a twitter rant or always there to offer advice in those Instagram pods. My twitter girls which intitally started out as a blogtober group has turned out to be much more than that, we rarly speak about blogtober. It's a place for us to have a natter, ask for advice or just have a general moan about something. It's so lovely and I honestly couldn't be any happier.

Popcorn Caramel Coffee.

Being a mother to a four year old can be a whirlwind. Some days are full of exploring and adventures which are always fun, but my daughter's energy levels can make the adventures completely exhausting too. The summer holidays have been full on with early starts and late nights, a few sassy moments, complaints of being tired or telling me that she needs to just chill. Ha. It's been a definite struggle to get up and get on with the day at times, however the best way to keep awake during the day is without a doubt a strong coffee, most parents are fuelled by coffee these days anyway. A strong coffee will hopefully have enough caffeine in it to keep eyes wide open so my husband can get to work without worrying about falling asleep on the job and I need as much caffeine as my body can drink to see through the late nights, early morning and the meltdowns. The struggle is without a doubt real! My favourite is without a doubt Beanies and their caramel popcorn flavour, and only 2 calories a cup who can complain.

Spotify.

I love Spotify, I’ll just make that clear from the start. Spotify has completely changed the way I listen to music. I have been using Spotify for a while now, and I love the option of playing whatever the hell I want as it basically no bounds and there is so much to choose from. I don’t think I could function properly without it’s unlimited access to so many songs, albums and fantastic playlists. Also, new album releases are always available which make the after school run power walk so much better. The playlists are very flexible and the ability to create my own playlists making it one of the best music platforms.

Lightroom Presets.

It's only recently that I discovered the wonderful world of Lightroom and I am completely obsessed. I really love the fact that you can buy presets to make your editing process so much easier. When using Lightroom presets, with only one click you'll be able to get your photos to a pretty much edited state, and sometimes even completely done with one click. You are really spoiled for choice when it comes to choosing presets. Baring in mind I have just discovered this editing tool recently I already have about six presets that I am trying to get to grips with and it's making editing my photos so much fun and I don't overexposure my photos. Woo. For me, Lightroom presets has been great for creating a theme on the grid. You could say that for some time I fell out of love with Instagram and hated my feed, so a preset or two and a couple of clicks and I am beginning to fall in love with it again. Using the same presets across your whole blog photography will give your images a more uniform and consistent look, as opposed too editing each and every photo one-by-one, which doesn't leave the same desired effect. Presets are great way to discover your theme.

What have you been loving this month?

An Evening Skincare Routine That You Need To Start

|
I have been having a little problem with my skin at the moment. My complexion is far from desirable and I had a terrible breakout and no matter what foundation I use, it just slips off my skin in an instant. And so I have decided to have a skincare overhaul and adapt a new skin care routine and chuck out everything I used and started from scratch. I am a few months into the new routine and so far my skin is feeling more nourished and certainly hydrated. As you know I have finally cracked the perfect morning routine that actually works. So now it's all about my developing an evening routine that works too.

Skincare is pretty important, yet it is something that we like to neglect. Many of us use products and cosmetics that are not right for our skin. I have been so bad for this too. I now know that my skin type is dry and sensitive so I try to avoid using too many ingredients that will cause irritation or breakouts. So a good night time routine is everything. A night time skincare routine aims to help skin issues before the regenerative process of sleep begins, so it's important to use the right products to help aid the process.

You always start off a good routine with a cleanse. DON'T ever use baby wipes as a quick way to remove makeup. It's so bad for your skin and you won't thank yourself when you're on the other side of your 30s. Micellar waters seemed to becoming quite popular in the beauty world with lots of brands bringing out their own product to take on the trend Micellar waters are free from oils, alcohols and fragrances, the products work without the use of water by containing micelle cleansing molecules that pull oil and dirt away from the face. However, as much as I love my Micellar water I can't help but feel as if they are drying my skin out, I also love to layer my lashes and Micellar waters don't quite cut it when removing my makeup. This Caudalie Makeup Removing Cleansing Oil is a great for removing make up. It’s a lightweight oil that emulsifies when you add a little water. It removes make-up effectively, although I need two cleanses to completely remove heavy eye make-up. Using 3 pumps of the oil and rubbing it gently into my skin, the cleansing oil easily breaks down makeup, even the most stubborn eyeliner. Once you have broken down all the makeup, apply some water to wash the product off. At this point I tend to remove the final bits of oil with a flannel to make sure the skin is completely clean. I also find using a fresh flannel each time helps with your complexion too, I have one for each day!

Then it's onto the second cleanse of the evening with the Soap and Glory 3-in-1 Daily Vitamin C Facial Wash. I'm a big soap and glory, if you didn't know. This 3-in-1 Daily Facial Wash has to be the best skin care product I have ever used. I've tried so many different types of skin care products and none have worked until I tried this one. Most skin care products make my skin go very red and become itchy but this one makes my skin feel so much better.

Toner is the first barrier product you apply. A good toner balances your skin’s PH, and is intended to hydrate and not strip your skin.

Something I never really even thought about until I developed a brand new skin care routine was an essence. I have been trying in implement as many steps as I can from the Korean skincare routine as I can, and one step that many Koreans don't avoid is essence. It's the heart of the skincare routine. Essence is a hybrid between a toner and a serum. It works perfectly to hydrate the complexion, aiding cellular turnover for a youthful appearance. One that I have been using is this LUMENE Valo (Light) Glow Boost Essence. This Valo Glow Boost Essence from Lumene- a foolproof solution for reviving fatigued and dull looking skin and instead swapping it out for a glow. I love this essence! I've been using it to prep my skin before make up or if my skin needs an extra moisture boost. It leaves your skin feeling so smooth and looking really lovely and dewy. And it's smell so good. I am already on my second bottle.

The most important (and expensive) step in your morning skincare routine is a serum. These concentrated formulas with an unprecedented amount of active ingredients, target specific skin concerns like wrinkles, dark spots, and dehydration. The Skin Chemist 24hr Aqua Repair Facial Serum is perfect for a high dose of moisture to set you up for the day. This 24 hour repair facial serum has been formulated to soothe and hydrate the skin. I think for me, this was something that I was really looking forward to putting into my evening routine as well as my morning.

A quick word on ampoules, because they're in the same family as essences and serums. An ampoule is a supercharged serum with higher concentrations of active ingredients that you're meant to use for a finite amount of time as a booster or when you're having a skin crisis of some sort. But your skin will most definitely benefit from regular use. I am using this Glow Drops Facial Oil from The Hero Project. My skin has an instant, youthful glow and radiant texture when I use this dry touch oil. Glow Drops® features 10 gloriously scented natural essential oils blended with Vitamin C. What’s more, the bottle has amazing Last Drop Technology that keeps you Gorgeous to the last drop®, ensuring you get to benefit from every single drop of glowy goodness.

The sheet mask is my favourite part of the routine. You should try and aim to use one of these at least two to three times a week. Remember the importance of me time, well use that excuse anyway. But I do love a good sheet mask that is saturated with skin loving in ingredients. Perfect for all skin types, everyone can benefit from these masks which deliver a deeply hydrating and anti-ageing treatment. My absolute favourite is this Vitamasques, Manuka Honey Hydrating + Moisturising Sheet Mask. Boasting anti-inflammatory and moisturising properties, spotty skin will be banished to reveal a nourished healthy glow that will leave you buzzing with excitement (see what I did there). This mask felt so luxurious and left my skin feeling so soft and glowing for days afterwards without any reactions. WOO! Mudmasky Mask is another product I use when I am not feeling like a sheet mask. This Mudmasky mas is made by one of Europe's most premium skincare brands. A mask that hydrates, soothes and smooths the skin using fresh, raw and all-natural ingredients. It's also scented with rose water to help induce a more restful sleep after a long day. Being a parent to a toddler, you could say that I have a late night a few times a week so this mask is something that I need to use. I also like the fact that this is an overnight mask, something I have never tried so I am going to enjoy and indulge.

Once the skin has absorbed the ingredients from the sheet mask, apply an eye cream to protect and hydrate the delicate eye area. I am using a couple of different ones at the moment because I haven't found my saviour cream. I am using a Cool Eye gel from Monu Skin which is refreshing gel to instantly restore hydration and refresh the sensitive eye area. A unique blend of Arnica, Vitamin C, Sodium Hyaluronate and Ginseng ensures the Eye Cool Gel effectively reduces puffiness and dark circles under the eye whilst lifting, plumping and correcting skin tone for a fresh, flawless look. My hunt for a perfect eye cream appears to be never ending however, one little bottle may halt my search with this eye cool gel, which is a clear liquid that instantly soothes the skin and is even better when stored in the fridge before use. But I have just got some Anew Clinical Life & Firm Eye Lift System where you apply the gel twice daily to your eyelid, brow bone and above the brow. Smooth in the cream under the eye area, including your upper cheekbone and outer corner of the eye. But as it's only something that I have started to use, so watch this space.

Phew, the last step. Anti-Ageing Cream For Younger Skin is another moisturiser that I add into my routine from time to time as it hydrates the skin and helps delay the initial signs of ageing, and boy do I need that!!!

So that's it! A night time skincare routine that has been working wonders.. Have you used any of the products that I mentioned in my routine? You'll have to let me know in the comments. Now don't forget to have a peek at my morning skincare routine.

My Blogging & Photography Equipment

|
Photography is something that I am passionate about, there’s something so amazing about capturing moments in time and being able to pour over them years later. I always have my camera with me on days out as I believe the quality of a professional camera is a second to none. I'll be the first to admit that carrying a camera plus a couple of lenses can get pretty annoying because they are super heavy, but they are worth the struggle. I just want to put it out there I'm in no way, shape or form a professional photographer. I'll be completely honest I had no idea what aperture, shutter speed, or all the little dials on the camera were for?. I'm still trying to get to grips with it all, but I knew it was something that I wanted to get better at and I have a keen willingness to learn. Slowly but surely I'm getting there, and I can really see that my photography skills have improved. It's become my passion. My favourite person to take photos of is obviously my daughter, and she loves being in the front of a camera, she even gives me instructions. Lately, I am getting more compliments about my photography which has encouraged me to write this post about my blogging and photography equipment.

Before deciding to embark on a new venture into becoming a professional blogger, using a kindle to write my posts and taking photos on my phone were more than enough. However as soon as I decided that I wanted to blog professionally, these simply were not going to cut it. So searching for blogging equipment was never going to be easy and I had to be willing to part with some serious cash. There are so many different types of cameras out there, it can be quite overwhelming. So I decided to use my husbands camera which was a Samsung NX10 and it wasn't something that I saw many bloggers with, so I played around the settings and took some photos. I loved it! And now I have so many different lenses as well as lots of other photography equipment and my collection just keeps on growing. However, I am not at all saying that all budding bloggers needs to own or use the same equipment as me. I just thought that it would be a good idea to share my equipment as it's something that I seemed to be getting asked a lot.

When it comes to photography and blogging every blogger is different, and what some see as important others may not. I have been blogging for a good part of three years, and the equipment I had when I first started is nothing compared to what I have now. I would create my posts on an old kindle and use an iPhone 5S for photos, with no form of editing. Some of my older blog posts and photography are pretty embarrassing. But now I have well and truly upped my blog photography game, so be sure to follow me on the gram for some behind the scenes action.

LAPTOP: HP PAVILLION 15.6 INCH

If you are planning on starting your own blog or you are already a blogger and you are looking for the best piece of equipment to do your job then a laptop is a must have, as without one would make your job pretty difficult. As always a computer will always do the trick, but then if you are travelling a bit and you attend conferences or blogger events then a laptop would be the better choice. The best way to look at deciding between the two is to consider the factors that are required for your blog and go ahead and pick up a suitable one. Bloggers generally write posts, edit photos, schedule social media posts and require internet connection at all times. Travelling is a pretty important role for a bloggers too, as you are normally asked to attend conferences, launches or retreats. So, while choosing the best laptops for bloggers, you should have all these points on your mind. Anyways, for me a laptop was a must have. But don't feel you have to part with some serious cash to get the top line brand, there are so many fantastic deals around so you make sure you keep your eyes peeled for a good deal. I have a HP Pavillion and I'm obsessed with it, it's perfect for blogging as it has a very smooth keyboard to make all that typing easier. The HP Pavilion Laptop has a durable design that's built for reliability and longevity, so you don't need to worry about daily wear and tear. A good buy and going strong.

CAMERA: SAMSUNG NX10 & 18-55MM, 50-200MM, 20-50MM, 20MM PANCAKE LENSES

Technically, this isn't actually my DLSR, it's my husbands. However, he's fully aware that it is his no longer. This little camera is perfect for those who are just getting to grips with photography, it's affordable and gives a pretty decent quality image. There are so many brands out there on the market and it can be quite overwhelming figuring out which camera is best. I know that most bloggers go for a Canon or Nikon and perhaps one day I'll invest in one myself, but for now the NX10 does a fantastic job. The Samsung NX10 is an excellent entry into the growing interchangeable lens compact camera market, offering intuitive handling, especially for beginners, great image quality and fantastic value for money.

Lenses. I have quite a few as there are different types of photography that I like to capture. Now when it comes to take those beautiful shots of my daughter and my husband then I love to take out my bulky zoom lens, the 50-200mm is perfect for those candid shots. I will always take this lens with me if I intend to take lots of photos of my daughter from afar, the zoom itself is very impressive. However, my blog work does mean that I have to take quite a few photos of products and flay lays and for these I really love the blurry effect and so my favourite lens for this is my 18-55mm. This is the lens that is always on my camera. It's fantastic for close up and has a zoom too. A great all rounder. The only downside to carrying this one around all the time is that it's super bulky and very heavy. When I use my camera continuously it really hurts my neck, even with a soft strap.

I do have two other lenses that I don't really use too much. One came with my camera itself was the 20-50mm. This is a lot smaller and lightweight and delivers the best image quality for it's range. Last but not least I have the 20mm Pancake lens. It’s small, light, easy to use and provides solid image quality, which makes is an ideal landscape and street photography lens. The i-Function button is one of the most innovative things I’ve seen on a lens in a while. The added functionality makes it a joy to use in fast pace situations. The bokeh is better than I initially assumed. For me that really pays off. Bokeh from the 20mm f2.8 is smooth and rather clean. Overall, it is very versatile and great value. A lens I need to use a little more.

EXPLORING ADVENTURES: IPHONE 7

Who ever said you can’t take great photos on your phone? I bet you take yours everywhere with you, I know I do. It never leaves my side. I do love my DSLR. I use it when I am taking most of my blog photos. But not every blogger has a DSLR or know how to use one. A smartphone can just be as good and they have come a long way since those small grainy images, I have taken photos on my iPhone that are comparable to those from my DSLR. I guess you could call me bias but I love iPhones, I have been using one for the good part of ten years to take my photos, the iPhone7 camera is truly amazing. In fact did you know that the iPhone is the most popular camera in the world? If you aren’t ready to invest in a camera yet, iPhone is definitely your best friend.

PHOTOGRAPHY ACCESSORIES: TRIPOD, LIGHTING, & SD CARDS

As you get more into photography, you might find the need to add in a few accessories to your toolkit that will make your job way easier. I am in not saying that you all need these, but they can really make a difference to your photography and really up your blogging game. Whether you're a blogger, YouTuber or just someone who loves to take photos there will always be times when you need to mount the camera on a tripod in order to click photos from certain angles and frames. Honestly, I can't say that I use my on a regularly basis, especially as most of my set ups are indoors and flay lays. But if you are into lifestyle, travel photography a tripod can be very handy. I normally use my tripod when I want to take some lifestyle shots of me and my girl or even for the odd video. And it's not a huge investment, so you can always keep one at home in case you need it. The Amazon basics tripod is extremely affordable at £13 and can be easily folded away into a bag.

I swear by the natural sunlight for my blog photos, but seeing as we are in England good light isn't always an option. I do have a soft box light but I have to be honest, I really don't get to use it that often due to the fact that most of my set ups are either people or big flatlays. It is something that I am playing around with, but I do have to be honest I am not a fan of them. However this diffuser and reflector set has made all the difference, I have been using this little set for a while and I will always recommend these to anyone who wants to create their own brighter images.

There’s nothing more frustrating than slow memory cards that leave you missing photos. I know this only too well when my SD faulted and completely wiped itself when I tried to transfer them over. I was so sad that I could have cried as they were pictures of my little girl's birthday weekend. But thankfully we managed to get a couple back, but this little mishap did encourage me to buy a couple of SD cards. And this SanDisk Ultra is perfect. Fast read and write speeds for dealing with images, together with better pictures and full HD videos. Better still, the card is water-proof, temperature proof, X-ray proof, shock proof, and come with a 10-year warranty. Always have more than one!!!!

EDITING SOFTWARE: LIGHTROOM, SNAPSEED & A COLOR STORY

The editing tools! I must admit, I am not the greatest when it comes to editing. It has been one of those learning curves as I would over exposure a photos making them look unnatural, slowly but surely I am getting better. I won't spend too much of my time editing photos now, I will always whack up brightness and sharpen. Now most photographers and bloggers use Photoshop but I discovered the wonderful world of Lightroom quite recently and I am obsessed with it. I really love the fact that you can buy presets to make your editing process so much easier. This is the tool of choice for editing my photos now, it's perfect for straightening photos as well as cropping them. However, my editing process doesn't just stop with Lightroom. Before the lightroom days I would always use Snapseed, the best FREE app. This is definitely great for those photos that need a little healing or tuning. But if you're looking for an app to help up your editing game, then this is the one for you. A color story is great for creating a theme within the gram. Founded in 2016 by Elsie Larson and Emma Chapman, the creators of A Beautiful Mess, A Color Story is a photography and technology company specialising in mobile imaging and presets. There are so many different filters, presets that you can choose to help you create a theme, especially on the grid. It's one worth checking out.

BEHIND THE SCENES: BACKGROUNDS & PROPS

This has been one of my best discoveries since I started blogging, getting the perfect background. I tried everything and everything to try and achieve those crisp white background, and those marble effects looked so dreamy. But I discovered this amazing marble contact paper. I had some old shelving in our a shed and with a little help from my husband he put the marble contact onto the piece of wood, making the perfect background for a flat lays. It’s definitely a two person job to stick it to a surface without any bubbles, but once it’s done it’s perfect and so much. cheaper than buying a marble table. However, if you're a blogger you would have come across a marble background or two so I have been trying to look for backgrounds that add a little texture to my photography. But if you didn't notice but backdrops can be crazy money. So try and get creative. I brought some high quality images and got them printed in A1 size. BOOM! Perfect backdrop. Better yet, get yourself to the local DIY stores and raid their wallpaper sections. You wouldn't believe what backdrops you have laying around your home! A over sized white school shirt works wonders!!!

There are so many amazing bloggers out there who have really upped their games when it comes to photography and one theme that seems to be going through all these beautiful flat lays are props, and so props are a thing for me now. I am always looking for more props, my blogging room is getting a little crazy. It's all about getting the right props to surround your photo to make an impact. Stationary, beauty products, books, magazine and even culinary items make fantastic blog props. A bloggers guide to blog photography props may be a great start for inspiration.

NEXT BLOGGER BUYS: ARTIFICIAL LIGHTING, REMOTE, VR LENS.

External Flash. As we are now going into those autumn and winter days, natural lighting isn't always an option and still getting those crisp bright photos are everything. An external flash is an amazing piece of equipment that you can get for around £50 and I know that it will make my photography so much better especially when shooting with low light. Besides an external flash, you will find a light kit can help to even out the light in areas where you might have dark spots that are hard to work around. This is a great investment to help you on the days where it’s just not bright enough and at around £50, it’s a no brainer.

Camera Remote. Oh how I want to make those bird eye shots and ones with the little lady and I easier. I cannot tell you how many times I had to set my timer for these type of shots, but the most annoying thing was that fact that I had to press the damn button every time, get into place and wait a few seconds. It was time consuming and very tiring! So a camera remote is something that would make my life so much easier. It helps keep the camera stable for that crystal clear shot. But if you use a camera remote then you get the same effect, yet it allows you to slowly tweak things between shots without getting 76785 of the same shot. It’s a great little tool for literally nothing!

And when I decide to take the plunge to upgrade my camera, I know that I would love own a VR lens as I know that these can really make a difference when it comes to photography. It helps to take sharp pictures even when photographing hand-held. Generally, when taking photos, there's a rule of thumb to get sharp photos, you need to use shutter speed faster than the inverse of the focal length. With these image stabilisation technology, you can use slower shutter speed, and still get sharp images. But you still need to hold the camera in a stable manner. So this is definitely something that I would love!

What piece of your blogger toolkit couldn't you live without? Do you have any of the same equipment as me? Would you recommend anything I could add into my kit?

GUTTERHEAD: The Fiendishly Filthy Drawing Game

|
Believe it or not being a parent has it's perks but sometimes there are just too many mornings and evenings of tantrums, meltdowns and the high pitched squeals. So when a relative offers to take the lady overnight, which doesn't happen too often, we jump at the chance and go a little crazy. Well, when I say crazy I don't mean going out and getting crazy drunk. For one, we cannot handle alcohol as well as we used to and two we feel like a couple of old foogies hanging out trying to relive our youth with alcohpops. These days we tend to opt for a more chilled evening hanging out with friends. Who doesn't love a night in with a takeaway, a glass of wine and a giggle with some great company. We normally invite friends over to watch a film, binge on Netflix or just for general catch up over takeaway, but we've decided to take the level of craziness up a notch and have a game night!

Game night is a great way to enjoy each other’s company without having to go out and spend a ton of money. We spend the evening laughing, or sharing stories. As we grow older it becomes more and more clear that real friends, the kind of friends that you can laugh and joke with, that will party with you will also engage in an evening in a little competitiveness. Board games are such a great way to bring out your competitive side whilst having fun, it's also a good way to break the ice and encourage guests to mingle with one another. With that in mind, we wanted to tell you all about a new adult game Gutterhead. Just before we get into this post I need to say that the following game review is suitable for over 18s only and it does contain some mischievous and playful language. If you’re looking for family friendly games then this isn’t the one for you.

The best way to describe Gutterhead is to imagine that adult party game favourite Cards Against Humanity had a board game love child with Pictionary. A little like a somewhat disturbed love child. This hilarious adult party game that involves drawing, miming and guessing over 240 fiendishly filthy words and phrases such as 'Teabagging', 'Wet Dream', 'Camel Toe' and a bunch of other stuff too outrageous to write here. One member of each team picks a card and then must draw the fiendishly filthy word on it. The rest of the team then must guess what the word is. Inside your Gutterhead box you'll get a total of 240 cards that are divided into five categories; person/place, object, action, feeling/sensation and 'Naughty or Nice'. This game also has an array of outrageous drinking rules designed to take things up a notch when the party gets boozy. There is not need for paper as the game included 4 whiteboards, 4 dry-wipe pens and for game pieces you get to use coloured poo-shaped pieces.

Basically the aim of the game is to take down the opposing team by any measures. Ha. But similar to Pictionary with one member of each team draws a word or phrase and the others members try to guess. The first team to guess correctly wins the round, rolls the dice, moves their poo shaped game counter forward and picks up a new card. The first team to the finish line wins. There are some other rules that come in to play as you move around the board, as well as some drinking game rules you can add in too. Gutterhead is suitable for 4-16 players, making it the perfect game for small catch ups, larger gatherings or even parties. You'll be sure to have a giggle or two with this outlandish game.  On the board itself you can choose between the ‘Quickie’ or ‘Marathon’ routes, meaning a slightly shorter or longer game.

AmadeoĆ¢„¢ Regular

Would we recommend Gutterhead? Hell yes, if you're not too prudish and up for a laugh or two. I would have to say that I would recommend this game to friends and family who have a wicked sense of humour. I don't think I would recommend this one for a game to play at Christmas with the grandparents unless they are familiar with  tea bagging! šŸ˜². It's definitely not suitable for children.  I think Gutterhead would be great for a pre drinking session, hen/stag parties or just adults hanging out. My sister has her hen do soon and this is one game that we will be using at the pre-drinking session.

Absolutely hilarious game, never played anything like it. We played this game with our friends over a takeaway and too much wine to help save on some cash and we were not disappointed.  I actually learned a lot from this game as well, there were some cards I really couldn't guess and was surprised my friends did. I can't really remember laughing this hard for a while. I have also seen that there are some expansion packs available ensuring that you get down with the filthy lingo and connotations. So if you think that this game is your cup of tea and you're not prudish then go and get yours from Amazon, Firebox, Menkind or from Gutterhead Games, be quick they have promo codes at the moment.

GLOSSYBOX - September 2018: Back To School

|
Hello! It's GLOSSYBOX time! I cannot tell you how happy I am with this month's box. It focuses on a going back to school vibe. Does anyone see September as a sort of start to a new year full of fresh plans and fresh ideas? I am especially excited about the back to school edition as last month my box didn't arrive, thanks to my local post office. However, it was worth the wait as this little box is jam packed full of a mixture of full size products in addition to some travel sizes ranging from skincare, hair and even makeup. Apart from the wet wipes and Karl Lagerfeld lip liners, all the other items are new on my radar from brands that I have not come across.

If you're new to Glossybox, it's a monthly subscription box that comes packed with both full sized products that cover all areas of beauty from skin care, hair, nails, makeup and everything else in between from brands we all love to those new discoveries that we wouldn't normally get to try if it wasn't for Glossybox. Each box costs £13.25 per month and contains contents that are always over the cost of the box. In a nutshell, you get a box full of goodies all for that monthly price.

BeautyPro. Detoxifying Bubbling Mask with Activated Charcoal. RRP | £4.95

This self-foaming sheet mask bubbles to create a micro massage that cleanses the skin of impurities and blackheads. Utilising Activated Charcoal and a rich AHA complex created from Lime, Lemon, Apple, Orange and Grapefruit, this detoxifying mask is also suitable for acne prone skin.

Daily Concepts. Your Facial Mini Scrubber. RRP | £8.85

A design with pockets so you can simply slip onto your fingers for better control. The innovative texture with micro scrubbers technology which is pretty perfect for a daily soft wash or for an exfoliating wash. I also think that it's pretty cool that they have a label with an indicator that fades to let you know when you need to replaced your mini scrubber. I am so glad that this one was in my GLOSSYBOX this month as my skin is breaking out and no matter what I try my makeup ends up slipping off my face after a few hours. I use my facial cleanser along with my exfoliating scrub and I have noticed a difference in my skin. I have consistently used this for a few days in a row it has helped that skin on the top be removed, leaving newer, healthier skin showing. The rough side exfoliates, the soft side helps rinse.

Bang Beauty. Eyebrow Cream in Dark Brown. RRP | £16.80

There is nothing more exciting than trying out a new eyebrow product, brows are a big thing for me. I will not got anywhere without them. Ha. But it's important for me to make sure that my unruly eyebrows are tamed and filled. And I think that this Bang Beauty Eyebrow Cream may be a good one to try and put in my makeup routine. This eyebrow cream comes in a gorgeous looking box and inside a nice-looking glass pot which is complimented with a tiny angle-cut brow brush. The brow cream works well and lasts for a while. I like that it comes with its own tiny cute brush, even if its not the best one. The brush is soft but almost a little too soft for this type of application. This formula is light weight and creamy and applies soft layers that you can build to get your desire effect. Whether you was a subtle look or go all out and get more bang.

Karl Lagerfeld + ModelCo. Lip Liner in Rosewood. RRP | £25

I am more than familiar with Karl Lagerfeld + ModelCo and in a nutshell it's a pretty great. But for those who don't know, Karl Lagerfeld is one of the world‘s most renowned fashion designers, and he has teamed up with iconic Australian beauty brand ModelCo to create the most exciting beauty collection of 2018. Karl Lagerfeld‘s vision and aesthetic, combined with the innovative quality cosmetics of ModelCo, has resulted in KARL LAGERFELD + MODELCO; a limited edition collectable beauty range. And this lipliner is a gorgeous shade. Now lip liners are not normally my thing, however if I do have time to get my lips done before the school run, I will have a good lip liners and either a subtle shade of lipstick or lip balm. I really love this one. The pencil itself glides on my lips and has pretty impressive staying power.

Grow Gorgeous. Scalp Detox. RRP | £28

A completely new brand for me and I can't say I have ever heard of Grow Gorgeous either. This scalp detox sound like a really good treat for my scalp and hair, unlocking the secret for hair regrowth.. Utilising plant-based actives and nourishing ingredients, the unique, cooling formula combines natural Castor Oil Beads, White Willow Bark extract and Pomegranate Fruit Enzymes to gently exfoliate the scalp, providing a deep, intensive clean that eliminates clogging impurities, product build up, dry skin and dandruff to create the ideal environment for hair growth. This scalp scrub needs to be used on wet or damp hair before shampoo. It feels amazing to use, and after a few minutes you get a minty, tingly feeling on your scalp. It removes all the build-up if you use it correctly. Everytime I use this my hair feels super duper clean for a lot longer, it has more volume, more shine, more bounce. It even dries quicker! Also I love the smell of it, it's the same as the 11-in-1 cleansing conditioner and the hair growth serum. It's really good for itchy scalps, build-up, and flat, dull hair. I really recommend this!

Wet Ones. Be Fresh Antibacterial Wipes. RRP | £1.19

Technically, not a beauty product, but most definately a beauty gem. It’s a product that is very practical and useful in your handbag. And seeing as I have a four year old that can get very messy these are more than perfect to use. Normally we like to keep a antibacterial gel at hand, but these are great for wiping away the dirt too.
