A Quick & Easy Veggie Soup

Nothing warms you up quicker than sipping on a bowl of steaming hot soup on a bitter cold afternoon. Not only does soup keep you warm and toasty, it's also a fuss-free way to get a nutritious meal to your table quickly.

Homemade soup is wonderfully wholesome and the ultimate healthy meal choice. As long as you choose to add lots of veggies and go easy on salt and saturated fat of course. Soup is always a super filling option for meal times and most are low in calories which is great new for those who are on the slimming world plan.

People who eat a soup before or as a main meal tend to ear less overall, so consuming some of your calories in the form of soup can keep hunger at bay and help you lose weight, without making you feel like you're depriving yourself. That's why we love soup in this household and we have the perfect veggie soup recipe for you that is super quick and easy to make.

For this soup, we use onions, carrots and potatoes for the base of the soup. But it needs to be noted that the type of the potato can really make a difference in making this soup a hit or a miss. So for the particular soup recipe we prefer using a waxy potato instead of a floury variety, as they tend to change the consistency of the soup. But we also added some frozen peas and sweetcorn just before serving to give our soup a little extra bite.

To make the quick and easy veggie soup you'll need:

1 medium onion, chopped finely
2 carrots, peeled and diced
250g of potato, peeled and chopped into cubes
800ml of chicken or vegetable stock
1 tbsp of thyme
a pinch of chilli flakes
2 tbsp of frozen peas
2 tbsp of frozen sweetcorn
salt and pepper to season
fresh chopped parsley
low calorie spray

1. Spray a deep set saucepan on a medium heat with some low calorie spray, add the chopped onion along with some salt and pepper to taste until soft.

2. Then add the diced carrot, spray with some more low calorie spray adding a little bit of the stock to prevent any burning or sticking.

3. Stir in the thyme, potatoes and stock made from two chicken or vegetable stock and then bring to a boil. Reduce heat and cover and simmer for approx 20-25 minutes.

4. It's at this stage that you want to add in the frozen veggies and cook for a further 10-15 minutes.

5. If you wanted a thicker soup scoop out half of the soup and blitz in a blender. Once smooth add this to the remaining soup and cook for a further 5 minutes so the soup can fully thicken. If you don't have a blender or want to save time you could add a thickening agent but you would need to syn accordingly.

6. Taste and season with salt and pepper as needed and sprinkle with fresh parsley. With this soup you can add whatever toppings you like such as chopped chicken, sausage, sauteed mushrooms or even extra chilli flakes if you like it spicy. This is a great soup to make if you're pushed for time but you can also add on whatever toppings you like.

The Best Apps & Programs for Bloggers.

There are so many great apps and programs that help bloggers create quality content. With technological advancement in mobile phones and apps, bloggers these days are offered many opportunities to not only blog on-the-go, but also to tick off blogging tasks on their smartphones. I'm sure if you're a blogger, you will under the importance of creating beautiful content. So I thought that today I would give you a rundown of the apps and programs that I really couldn't be without.

Canva is by FAR the bes graphic designer and image for bloggers! I discovered this app some time ago and I really love using it and it is something that I will always recommend to other bloggers and businesses. Canva has fantastic features and you can create any type of graphic you need to promote your brand, blog or business. There are diffferent types of graphics you can design such as pinterest, facebook, instagram stories and you can even create a media kit. It's a brilliant program to use. I am only using the free version of Canva at the moment and it does exactly what I need it to do.

Now when it comes to an editing style there are so many great apps that you could choose to download. My editing process isn't so straightforward and there are a number of different apps that I use to try and get those light, bright and airy images on my blog and instagram. Most professional photographers love using photoshop, but being a girl who loves a budget friendly way to get beautiful imagery I downloaded the lightroom app. Lightroom is a great app and they are known for making some amazing filter presets  which can really help save time of editing. Preset will make your Instragram feed cohesive in colour and style, and if that's something that you want then you need to download lightroom. You could even try and create your own presets but it does take some practice, so for lightroom beginners I would recommend getting a couple of presets to figure out your style. With this latest version, the photo editing app is now completely free — you don't need an Adobe Creative Cloud subscription to download and use the app

A Color Story

If you're looking for an app to make your photograph more cohesive then I would recommended using a color story in addition to lightroom. A Color Story is a great app to use if you're trying to create a more cohesive theme on the gram, This app has so many different filters, presets that you could use to help create a theme. I will open up my photos in this app and then head straight over to the filters, they have some free filters available but I have purchased a couple of packs aswell. You can go through their shop and scroll through all the filter packs available which are super cheap. Lately, I have been using this app to plan my Instagram feed so can figure out what works and what doesn't. It's definately an app that's worth checking out.

New apps for instagram stories seems to pop up everyday, which means that stories are becoming much more creative, interactive and engaging than they have ever before. More and more bloggers are using their Instagram stories to share their content, drive traffic and connect with their followers. It does make completely sense and so many of us want to up our game with the Instagram stories. Unfold is great for clean minimalist story templates, so this is a easy fit for me. By using a set of templates for your Instagram Stories, you can create cohesive content that aligns with your brand as a whole. Unfold will have everything you need to stand out from the crowd! From clean frames to cute layered polaroids, there’s a template for every brand to get creative with. Not only that, it’s seriously easy to use, and take no time at all to be creative.

Whatever you do never EVER underestimate the usefulness of a notes app on your phone. With Evernote you can manage everything from writing blog posts to big projects. It is a great app to capture ideas and inspiration in notes, voice and pictures ensuring that you never lose track of your tasks or deadlines. There’s not another note-taking app out there that can offer everything Evernote can in one neatly wrapped package. For me inspiration always comes to be at times that I never expect so Evernote is great for that, I also like to use this for my task lists and even keep my hashtages for the gram. It's brilliant.

With technological advancement in mobile phones and apps, bloggers these days are offered many opportunities to not only blog on-the-go, but also to tick off blogging tasks on their smartphones. As a blogger I have found so many brilliant apps that have really helped with productivity as well as keeping me organised. What apps do you use? I'd love to know, please leave your recommendations in the comments below.

If you like me, then why don't you pin me for some brilliant apps to help you be more productive.

Banana and Cranberry Mini Loaf

This deliciously moist Banana & Cranberry Mini Loaf recipe puts a fruity twist on classic banana bread. These two flavours really do come together beautifully and make a great alternative for those who are trying to make better choices. With over ripe bananas we normally like to make our banana loaf, but we decided to use those ripe bananas in a slimming world friendly recipe with a tangy twist.

These Banana & Cranberry Mini Loaves are perfect for those mornings on the go or for a little sweet treat with a cup of tea in the afternoon. They make a great alternative for lunchboxes or even cereal bars that are normally loaded with calories and sugar. These Banana & Cranberry Loaves are slimming world friendly and packed with lots of vitamins as well as fibre and slow releasing energy with the oats. You can choose to use two of these bars as part of your healthy extra B and they are 3 syn each as the cranberries and bananas are cooked. But still they are soooo good.

You will need some bar moulds to cook these Banana & Cranberry Mini Loaves, you can pick one of these from a Supermarket or Amazon. With the silicone moulds you are able to achieve a perfect snack size treat that are great for those who are watching what they eat, or need to portion their sweet treats. I would highly recommend one of these mould as the possibilities are endless so you can cook up a storm in the kitchen creating delicious recipes you could try our Banana & Chocolate Oat Bars or Blueberry & Lemon Oaty Bars both are great for those on Slimming World. This recipe makes 10-12 loaves which equates to 2 days worth of Healthy Extra B but you will need to syn them too. Hope you enjoy this recipe as much as we do. Gardening Tips for Beginners

For many people under the age of about 50, gardening is something the generation before did. They had room to do it. And time. But as the world has built upon itself time and time again over the past few decades, we find new housing in popular towns and cities being built with little or no green space. Of course, the occasional friend or relative will get up to a bit of 'gardening' on the kitchen window sill, growing a few peppers perhaps, and good on them. But for those of us who do have a little space and do want to develop more of a green thumb than a texting thumb, there are a few pointers that can set you on your way.

First, we must mention that not all gardening is clean sailing, with issues over the safety of some products making the news headlines recently. Information like this can give you an idea of the situation.

The Sun Shines Where it Shines

The sun moves across the sky throughout the day. Actually, the Earth rotates, giving the impression of a moving sun, but I digress. This means that before you begin any gardening project, you need to be aware of exactly where the sun does and doesn’t shine in your garden. This is important because some plants prefer the shade. See, we’re already learning some great gardening tips!

Soil is Key

If you fed a lion nothing but lettuce, you’d soon have a pretty sickly lion. Getting the food right for plants is equally as important, and that begins with nutrient-rich soil. Don’t make the mistake of thinking that whatever soil came with your house is probably perfect for the exact expectations you’re going to place on it. Soil is cheap. Buy good soil.

Know Your Zones

The world is split into horizontal bands, or ‘hardiness zones’. These things aren’t made up for the fun of it. They reflect the different climates that exist the further north or south you go from the equator. The advice here is simple: do your research. This introduction is far too short to go into all the details of the various zoning requirements of all the world's plants. Suffice to say that once you discover your zone, you will be able to buy plants that work well in that climate range, increasing the chances of your plants living long and happy lives.

Five Things I'm Loving.

Five favourites lately...

How are you all doing during this lockdown? I have totally lost all sense of time and can't even follow the days of the week. Anyone else? During this lockdown we have been spending so much time in the garden and my house has never been so clean. It's also given me an opportunity to have a complete overhaul in my beauty products as I have quite the stash! So today I thought that I would share five things that I have been loving lately.

You may have seen our post with Evolve Beauty, if not go and catch up. But this has to be on my list of favourites. Every product is hand crafted using natural and organic oils, butters and natural superfoods sourced from around the world. Their Liquid Radiance Glycolic Toner is a great product to add into your beauty routine, especially if you want your skin to feel brighter and give you a bit of a glow. This toner is known to brighten the skin, enhance a glow and keep fine lines and wrinkles at bay. A great one for us tired mamas!

The Nuxe Insta-Masque Exfoliating Mask has been amazing for my skin and has helped my blemishes no end. Insta-Masques are the face masks of the future; they offer visible results and a pampering experience, in no time at all – as we are such busy people. It doesn’t matter what your skin type is; you should own this xxfoliating and unifying Mask. The mask focuses on improving radiance and irregular texture that affect a lot of people due to pollution, bad diet and a busy lifestyle. I like to use this in my evening routine two to three times a week and it has such a sweet scent you will never want to rinse it away.

Next up is more lifestyle favourite, and it's a recipe book. I don't know about you, but we love creating recipes from scratch that are full of good food. The How to Eat Brilliantly Everyday from Abel and Cole has been a great way to make delicious meals that are jam packed with stunning dishes using the very best natural raw ingredients. If you love eating with the seasons, reducing food waste and whipping up creative simple to cook dishes packed with flavour, then this cookbook is for you.

For a dose of pure indulgence, nothing but a luxury bath product will do. However we always like to take this pure indulgence to a different level with a princess bath as they can really change our moods in an instant. We all need to be having more princess baths! You can choose to pull of petals of some posies you have at home but I really love sprinkling some of these natural and biodegradable rose buds into our bath. A rose petal bath can really help perk up your skin and soothe your mind with its subtle scents. It can help sooth irritated skin, brightens complexions and tightens pores for a smoother appearance.  Petals give off a natural calming scent and using rose petals in your bath can completely change your mood, that's before the amazing qualities that natural rose petals has.

The last thing that I'm really loving lately is Tiger King on Netflix. It has drama, murder and a lot of crazy cat people. What else could you possibly need during this time of the pandemic? This is a show that many could binge on over a weekend and as the story unfolds it gets weird and weirder but you just can't stop watching. Like with everything, it won't be everyone's cup of tea and some won't understand the hype. It has so many twists and turns and you are often left opened mouthed with the crazy cat world. A must WATCH!

Easter Fun in the Sun with Gazillion Bubbles

It's Easter! We are in the middle of a lockdown so we need to keep our little one occupied and entertained as much as we can. BUBBLES! It doesn’t matter how old you are, bubbles are always fun. They are also a cheap and wonderful way to encourage many areas of development and learning. We had A LOT of bubble gadgets and mixture to play with thanks to Gazillion Bubbles.

For as long as I can remember my daughter has always loved bubbles and always get so excited when we get her a bottle of bubbles or a wand, her laughter could be heard for miles. Bubbles can be big or small, played with indoors or outdoors and enjoyed with or without friends. There’s a little bit of magic in each one.

Can you imagine my daughter's reaction when she saw all these Gazillion bubbles toys that she can play with. In our Gazillion bundle we received a MegaBubble Blaster, Tornado Bubble Machine, Giant Incredible Wand and a 2L Giant Solution

Mega Bubble Blaster

We couldn't wait to have some bubble fun with our toys, naturally we started with the MegaBubble Blaster. This was small enough for my daughter to grab and go and it created some big bubbles at the push of a button.

Simply screw in the bottle of Giant solution included and you're ready to blast! My daughter loved playing with the MegaBubble Blaster but when she couldn't make any bubbles she would get annoyed at herself, soon enough we realised that it was more of an art than a push of a button.

Tornado 2.0 Bubble Machine

Want bubbles galore? The Tornado 2.0 is the only machine that you will need for some bubble fun. With no pump and no wait time, you'll be creating a gazillion bubbles in a flash.

This ultimate bubble machine blows so many bubbles per minute at the push of a button. Simply attach the auto-feed valve cap to the solution bottle, insert the bottle into the spout, push the button, and watch in amazement as a Tornado of bubbles blows into the sky.

This little machine was great if you want to pop as many bubbles as you can without blowing any. I would say that this would be a great gadget for a family barbeque or a children's party during the summer. As we are in lockdown we can't have friends over so we decided to set our bubble machine next to our joining fence and popped bubbles with our neighbours.

Giant Incredi-bubble Wand

This has to be the best by far bubble wand. You will create some of the biggest bubbles you have ever seen with this Incredi-bubblewand. It was such a great toy and our favourite of all the machines we received from Gazillion Bubbles. All you need to do is dip your want into some of the giant bubble solution and wave around to make massive bubbles.

This large wand comes with its own tray and a bottle of giant Gazillion bubble solution specially formulated to create huge bubbles. All the solutions that are used are eco-friendly, safe, non-toxic, and will not stain clothing or furniture which a great. However, the only mishap we did have with the bubbles and solution was not realising how slippery it would make the grass making my daughter slip over a couple of times.

We had the most fun with those trying to make huge bubbles as we couldn't believe how big our bubbles got. My daughter loved trying to make huge 'caterpillars' around herself and watching them float away. If you want lots of bubbles then the Tornado is the one for you as there will be hundreds of bubbles. There were so many that even our neighbours got involved with some bubble popping.

We all enjoyed some bubble mania over the weekend and we are really impressed with Gazillion Bubbles and their amazing machines. They have taken bubble fun to a completely different level and kept us occupied for hours. It was so fun watching our daughter have fun blowing bubbles in the garden and it really did take me ages to try and get the perfect capture but we got some great pictures in the end.

Have you tried anything from Gazillion Bubbles yet? If so, what machine do you have? Or do you have the giant bubble wand?

**We have been kindly gifted this bubble bundle that was featured in this post, but as always my words and opinions are my own. Images are subject to copyright **

How To Make Toilet Paper Roll Bunnies

Easter is just around the corner and if you're looking for a quick and simple craft then these toilet paper roll bunnies are perfect. You can make your bunnies as colourful as you like or you can keep them white with colour features. Each bunny will be unique and little ones will love adding their own personal touch to their own toilet paper roll bunny.

Toilet paper crafts are always fun and our love for toilet paper crafts goes a long way back. It was probably one of the first crafts we done together. We love crafting with toilet tolls and we always have a stash of them lying around somewhere in our home and they are surprisingly versatile! They are also free. We love making something creative with loo rolls, we have made Christmas characters and bunny stamps. So make sure, if you don't already save those toilet paper rolls.

But today we want to show you these really simple and easy bunnies that can be created with few supplies that you probably already have in your craft box, saving you a trip for craft supplies. This paper roll bunny craft is easy to make and is so much fun to put together. We love how each paper roll bunny can have their own style and personality.

To make these toilet roll bunnies you will need:

Toilet paper rolls
A4 white paper
small googly eyes
pipe cleaners
small pom poms
white card stock
black sharpie

1. The first task is to gently wrap a piece of A4 white paper around your toilet paper roll and stick together with some sellotape. This is going to be slightly bigger than your toilet roll so you'll need to cut to size. You can either cut this flush or cut fringes across the sides of the toilet roll and put through the ends. Show your little one how to to do this gently, leaving a distance of 1 cm between each of the cuts. This is also helping your child to learn to judge equal distances.

2. Make the bunny ears by tracing around some ears on white card stock, for our bunny ears template we actually used a cookie cutter as they were the perfect size.

3. Glue your googly eyes onto your toilet paper roll.

4. Twist three small pipe cleaners around each other and glue to the bunny roll and once that is in place it's time to give your bunny a little pom pom nose.

5. Glue the ears to the inside of the top of your toilet roll bunny and then using a sharpie draw on a mouth. It was at this step that we decided to add a little flower to one of the bunnies. We also glue two white pom poms for feet and one around the back for a tail.

So there you have it, another way to get creative with a loo roll. It is a really easy craft to do with your children over Easter and you don't even need any paint, no clear up! Winning.

Easter Basket 2020

Easter is almost here and we still have some planning and brainstorming to do, but we have the last few bits we needed to create our daughter's Easter basket. As you will know we do love putting together seasonal baskets for our daughter and they always go down so well. But I have yet to share a Easter basket with you all, so that's the plan for today.

Do you do an Easter basket? I know that Easter baskets aren't such a big thing, in comparison to Christmas Eve baskets, but they should be. It's such a great way for little ones to get excited before their Easter Egg hunt. But before you spend a small fortune on any Easter basket for your family, I would really love to share creative ways and give some ideas of what you could include. Whether you're making a basket for a baby, toddler or a tween some of these basket ideas will certainly bring a smile to their face.

If your little ones are anything like mine then they will love discovering gifts with names on them. Just like this gorgeous personalised small Easter drawstring bags that are a perfect keepsake Easter gift that can also be used during an Easter egg hunt. These bags have a Peter Rabbit printed on them with their name underneath, I really like the size of these bag making them perfect for little hands. Love by Jacob have so many cute little personalised gift ideas that you could use inside your Easter hamper from decorations, bags and even party bags.

Keeping with the Peter Rabbit theme we will also have an adorable fluffy Flopsy Bunny Toy from the classic Beatrix Potter books to add into her basket. This soft toy is made from premium soft plush with the original illustrations and Flopsy Bunny's signature pink jacket with a cute embroidered butterfly Motif. I know she is just going to love seeing Flopsy in her basket as Peter Rabbit is her favourite book and television programme.

Looking to avoid the chocolate indulgence this Easter? Whether your little one can’t actually eat chocolate or whether you’d simply just like a healthier alternative to the usual Easter gifts there are so many adorable ideas out there. With our seasonal baskets we like to include a good balance of chocolate, sweets, gifts and some craft bits.

We love this personalised name puzzle which is a great way to make children feel special and help them learn their own names at the same time. These are available in a wide range of colours, designs, sizes to choose from, so that the puzzle could perfectly match a child’s room design and work not only as a toy, but also as a beautiful decoration.

My daughter absolutely loves Hatchimals and is always happy to welcome new additions to her ever growing collection. Hatchimals are ready to bloom for Spring! This beautiful Hatchimals CollEGGtibles Spring Bouquet includes six exclusive characters – five hidden inside flowers and one cutie ready to play. You can remove each stem from the beautiful bouquet and crack open each flower to discover a new friend. These are super bright and vibrant ensuring their colours brighten up all Hatchimal fans, they also have golden glittery wings inside each bloom.

I know that these new Hatchimals Spring Bouquet CollEGGtibles series are definitely going to become her favourite as she loves glitter, colours and little Hatchimals. With a total of 12 characters to collect from two different bouquets the Spring Bouquet is the prettiest way to display your Hatchimals. The Hatchimals CollEGGtibles Spring Bouquet is going to be the first thing that my daughter takes out from her Easter basket that's for sure. The Hatchimals Spring Bouquet is £15 from Smyths toy shop. Which is the same price as some people spend on chocolate for Easter. So it makes an EGGscellant alternative Easter gift.

My daughter loves chocolate, she loves jelly beans but she also loves books. Each year I do like to get her a little Easter themed book to add into her basket and there are a few that make great Easter reading. But a favourite choice for us is We're Going on an Egg Hunt where you can join the Easter bunnies as they set off on an exciting lift the tab Easter egg hunt. With ten eggs to find and count, it's great fun. Not only that, we also like to include a couple of Easter themed crafts, colouring books and stickers for those who love to get creative.

It isn't really Easter without chocolate so I have picked up a couple of small treats to add into her basket. We are more than equipped for our Easter egg hunt for Sunday afternoon so we have kept the chocolate treats for her basket really small.

What do you think of our Easter basket? Do you think our daughter will love it? What will you have in your Easter basket.

Hatchimals CollEGGtibles Spring Bouquet

My daughter loves collecting little toys and one of her favourite things to collect are the Hatchimals CollEGGtibles. We have quite the collection in our household and she is always happy to welcome new additions.

For those who are not familiar with the craze these Hatchimals CollEGGtibles are adorable, collectible Hatchimals that come inside small, speckled eggs. You hold the little egg in your hands, rub the heart and when it changes colour you will know that they are ready to hatch. Press on the egg and crack it to discover a cute little Hatchimal CollEGGible inside. They are like a magical creature that are not an animal or a bird but a mixture of the two. But they are very adorable.

But now Hatchimals are ready to bloom for Spring!

I know that the new Hatchimals Spring Bouquet CollEGGtibles series are definitely going to become her favourite as she loves glitter, colours and little Hatchimals.

Do you collect Hatchimal CollEGGtibles? If so which are your favourite?
