6 Years of Amelia Rose

Amelia Rose,

Today my sweet daughter, you are 6 years old. I can barely believe it. From the moment you were born, my heart was yours. I looked into those beautiful eyes and knew that you were going to change my whole world completely. All my hopes and dreams came alive in that moment.

I remember laying you in my arms with your soft black black hair, little fingers and toes. You had the cutest ears and the little button nose. You looked up at me and the world melted away, taking my breath with your very first cries. I never knew love until this day and I waited so long to see your face and I will forever cherish you my precious little girl.

Six years of adventures, six years of milestones, six years of memories that I remember as if they happened a moment ago. But most of all, six wonderful years of loving you. I'm in complete awe of the little girl who you have grown into. You still have those beautiful round eyes and that perfect little smile when you laugh. You never hold back when you find something funny and I love that about you. Time and time again you always show me that your sweet side is evened out by your sassy side, oh and you love to be sassy!

Your patience, compassion, empathy and kindness has taught me so much. You are so sweet, loving, creative and you never stop imagining or caring about all your friends and family. You are confident and you are so determined about all the things you want to do and not afraid to say so - it is something that I really admire about you.

You have faced some big struggles in your little life but your strength and perseverance amazes me and seeing you overcome these makes me so proud of you. Please though little lady, if you do ever take anything to heart just know that you are perfect just the way you are. Remember to never allow someone to dull your sparkle, always be yourself and know that you are enough.

A big milestone this year for both of us was signing you up to rainbows. I will never forget your first session and you wanting me to hold your hand and stay for the entire session, but afterwards you told me that you are a big girl and you will be brave enough to go on our own next week.  I felt a pang in the pit of my stomach, and yes I was a little sad because you were growing up, but I was also incredibly proud of you.

One of your favourite things to do is cook with me and you are such a great little helper, unless you need to sieve flour. But you love getting creative in the kitchen developing new recipes and licking the spoon at every opportunity possible. I adore how much you love the world, love the planet and your biggest hope for life is that everyone will work together to help save the animals. You are still pretty determined that one day you will become a vet and we will often find you lining up your toy animals ready for their visit. It's the sweetest playtime with you. I just know that you will always be kind and caring. If only people had a sprinkle of your kind heart the world would be a better place.

You love getting out into the garden for some sunshine and a bit of fresh air to engage with the natural world. You are not afraid of getting dirty and you always get so excited to tell me that plants are growing or your flowers in your fairy garden are blooming. You will happily sit there for hours playing with all the fairies and their houses with imaginative play. I love listening to your amazing little adventures, even when you don't think I'm listening.

You still love to get creative with crafts every chance you can. You are giving and caring and are only too happy to make a picture for friends and family, we often feel so lucky when we are one of those people. You can create something out of an old egg box or milk carton in seconds, your creativity amazes me sometimes. You have this thing for creating little mini houses for all your small toys at the moment and each time you get more creative with your interior skills too.

Although this isn't perhaps how we would have planned your birthday. The world is a strange place at the moment and life feels pretty uncertain. You have not been to school, had a playdate, visited the beach in months. Life is odd. But if anything wonderful has come out of this lockdown is spending so much time with you. You have the best personality full of cheek and sass too, but you really are a wonderful person.

You are such an affectionate child and caring. Positive, bouncy and full of energy. You love a good cuddle and you are strong and determined. It’s not unusual for you to go to sleep singing and wake up singing. You completed our family six years ago and I'm forever grateful that we have been given those six years with you. Everyday with you is an absolute blessing. I love you. Happy 6th Birthday, my little miss sunshine.

  5. Very beautiful x my own daughter turned 6 at the end of April and I have to say it does get more emotional with each year doesn't it? Sometimes I look at her and I can't believe how mature she looks. I wish I could slow time down and stop her from growing up so quickly! That is a beautiful tribute to your daughter, happy birthday! #KCACOLS
