Spooktacular Halloween Trail

I adore this time of the year as there are so many great things to look forward to such as cosy evenings, pumpkin spiced lattes, pumpkin picking and of course all things Halloween. Our family don't go trick or treating, in a traditional sense. Some parents are against the idea of Halloween and trick-or-treating for both general and specific reasons. It varies from the idea of it being a celebration of the dead to the safety of asking for sweets and treats from strangers. Not many people like trick-or-treaters and don't always answer the door so that's why we go to a local Halloween Trail. It's safer, we don't pester people for sweets and those taking part are guaranteed a treat or two along the way. So today I thought I would share a our spooktacular evening at the Halloween Trail.

Our local Borough Council and the Vancouver Quarter have teamed up to celebrate Halloween with a special trail around the town. The trail was in the main town centre and started at 3pm where children and their parents were invited to collect a special Halloween map before making their way around Some retailers even handed out sweets as we made our way around to find the clues. At the end of the trail after we collected the all the clues we handed our maps in to get a bag of sweets.

This year on the trail there was something a little different. As went went in search for our clues, at each location we found some wicked fairytale characters including Cruella De Vil, Maleficent, Gaston from Beauty and The Beast, Captain Hook and Mother Gothel from Rapunzel. And with the baddies came the heroes and princesses too. It was such a great evening, and definitely not your typical trick-or-treating.
