An Idyllic Week Away At Riverside Cottage in North Yorkshire Dales

An idyllic cottage that's situated beside the beautiful River Ribble is the perfect accommodation to relax and recuperate from normality. The cottage being beside the river oozed tranquility and wonderment, there is no other way to drink of cup of tea in the mornings. It was a much needed break that my family needed.

Our cottage was aptly name River Cottage, nestled on the banks of River Ribble beside neighbouring other cottages on a VERY narrow private road. It was so cute with many trees, shrubbery and plants surrounding the accomodation. The cottage also has the added attraction of a picturesque unfenced pondside garden which attracts an abundance of wildlife throughout the year. This was one of the prettiest gardens we have ever come across, the pondside was always full of ducks and ducklings, so a favourite for the little lady. My favourite part was the short walk across the bridge over River Ribble to watch the water flowing, wildlife, and fish. It's was such a tranquil setting.

River cottage offers cosy and welcoming accommodation spanning three floors and offering superb views over the river and adjoining open countryside particularly from the gable end windows. As soon you enter the cottage you are met with a beautiful living room equipped with an open fire and entertainment system. The whole style of the cottage is elegant country chic with hints of vintage.

The kitchen was more than spacious and the door led to a terrace where you could happily sit drinking your morning coffee and eating crumpets, we did this many times during our stay. It was the best way to start our mornings, the local people were always super friendly calling 'Good Morning' as they walked by. The kitchen itself was more than ample for the five of us and the cupboard space was a second to none, however a little high for someone like me. In the kitchen there was an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge with ice box and washing machine. Being in this kitchen for a week has made me really want to redesign our kitchen, much to my husband's disappointed. The kitchen led to the dining room that had a really big dining table and chairs, perfect for dining during the evenings.

The first floor led to the first bedroom and the bathroom. This is something that either makes or breaks a stay for me and the bath was so good. It's the biggest bath I have ever been in and was the perfect way to relax and indulge in some me time.

We were sharing the accommodation with my parents and so seeing as we had the little one we took the top floor equipped with a double and twin room. The little lady loved how spacious her room was and the fact that Rapunzel got her own bed was even better. The only downside to being on the top floor was the steep stairs, I have to be completely honest and say that it was testing on the legs and thighs.

River cottage is more than equipped with everything you will need for a break away with family and friends. It's a luxurious home-from-home including condiments, coffee and tea all ready and waiting upon arrival making sure you feel welcome and prepared for the week of adventures ahead. Everything about your stay River Cottage is carefully considered, it’s what makes them stand apart from other cottage we have stayed in, that's for sure.

There were so much to see and do around Settle with many attraction being right on our door step. Places like Lime Kiln, Stainforth Force, Scaleber Waterfall as well Jubilee and Victoria Cave which are great for those who like to explore on foot. Settle has the great pubs, cafes and restaurants that are fantastic value for money, such as the Singing Kettle and Ye Old Naked Man. For little ones there is an amazing toys shop The House That Jack Built, it's a must do. We shall be back!
