My daughter is turning two in June, and it feels like I blinked and missed the whole thing! Becoming her mum was something I never thought possible, especially after the heartbreak of loss, but we were finally blessed with our little one.
The Beautiful Baby Bump
Towards the end of my pregnancy, I was unbelievably big. I’m not talking about the usual heavily pregnant big - I genuinely looked like a weeble! At just 5ft 1 and already on the chubby side, you can only imagine the sight. Yet, I never thought I’d actually miss looking like a weeble. There was something so magical about watching my baby grow each day, and nothing brought me more joy than rubbing my belly and feeling those little kicks in response.
Even though I felt like a weeble, I absolutely adored my baby bump. Not being able to see my feet for most of the pregnancy was worth it to watch my baby grow each day. I loved my pregnancy body and dressing up my bump always made me feel beautiful and feminine. Being pregnant gave me so much confidence, and I enjoyed wearing whatever made me feel comfortable. My favourites were cute little shirts under dungarees, pretty smock tops, and, of course, soft, stretchy maternity leggings that were a lifesaver.
The Naps
Any excuse for a nap sounds great—my husband would cheer me on, total WIN! But now, naps are more like survival missions because a certain tiny human insists on shoving her fingers up my nose, into my mouth, or yanking at my eyelids. Is it a toddler thing to lull you to sleep by gently stroking your face, only to whack you awake with a slap and a loud "boo"? Just my kid, huh?!
The Feeling Special
When you're pregnant with a beautiful round bump, people show so much interest in you. It really made me feel more appreciated, and I soaked up all the attention—after all, it was my moment, so why not enjoy it! In all seriousness, it was so heart-warming to see how much people cared about my pregnancy and my little bump. Another thing that always made me feel special was my husband offering to rub my feet, even though he hates feet. I totally played the pregnancy card! There's no way he'd do that now—maybe I need to get pregnant again just for the foot rubs!
The Baby Shopping Hauls
Nothing lifts my spirits like shopping for my little girl. Whether it’s cute dresses, nursery essentials, or nappies, it always puts a smile on my face. Walking into Mothercare without buying something for her? Impossible! Even now, every outing turns into a mission to find her a little treat - I just can’t resist!
The Little Tummy Flutter and Kicks
Even now, I think I can still feel those little flutters, and it takes me back to my bump days with my tiny wriggler. It was such a joy to feel those movements and watch her kicks - we even got one of those heartbeat machines for bumps. My husband would always talk, read stories, and sing to our bump, and we’d eagerly wait for her reactions, which always left me in tears because they tugged at my heartstrings.
Caving to the Cravings
Any excuse to eat is something I’ll always miss, and my cravings for naughty foods were endless - chocolate, cakes, ice cream, you name it. My ultimate craving was tuna mayonnaise sandwiches, but thanks to the mayo, they were off-limits. The moment I gave birth to my daughter, my husband handed me one, and let me tell you, it was worth every agonising second of the wait! Other cravings? Anything ice cold, bacon, and of course, chocolate! Sure, pregnancy isn’t a free pass to binge on treats, but let’s be real - what pregnant woman doesn’t indulge a little? You're already growing a tiny human and putting on weight, so what’s a few extra pounds? That slice of chocolate cake is totally worth it!
Do you miss being pregnant, if so what parts do you miss?
I can't say I miss being pregnant AT ALL. It was all highly inconvenient!! #bestandworst
ReplyDeleteNot everyone feels the same about pregnancy and their experience is not what they hoped, which is a shame. I found the first trimester harder than the second and third. I would always feel sick and experienced sciatic pain during the first trimester but once I went into the second trimester receiving those kicks made it all worthwhile. :)
DeleteAh gorgeous post - I loved being pregnant even though I was sick as a dog! I loved my bump and watching it grow and like you I was a massive fan of naps! Hmm maybe it's time I start thinking about number 2 ;-) Although I don't think Josh will let me nap as much!! :-) xx #coolmumclub
ReplyDeleteAhh thank you lovely! Oooh yes baby number two!!! I miss the naps so much. Thank you for stopping by and for your comments :)

DeleteYou really sound like you enjoyed being pregnant. I think watching your bump grow would be so nice, it's like watching your baby grow

Debbie
Yes definitely miss watching my baby grow in my tummy! Thank you for your comments x
DeleteGreat Post and a good reminder of how I wrapped Mrs M in cotton wool whilst she was pregnant and looked after her - once Little M arrived, then focus naturally changed. Us dads should make sure we still show how much we care for our partners as much as we did when they were pregnant so they always feel special.
ReplyDeleteAwww that's so lovely and I do think that it is so important to make your partner feel special after birth because we overwhelmed about it all. Thank you for commenting and for stopping by the blog.
DeleteIn some ways I wish I did miss it - but I really don't! I felt so ill and disgusting all the time, but it was worth it in the end! :) #KCACOLS
ReplyDeleteOh that's a shame that you felt like that when you was pregnant, each pregnancy is different. Yes all those bad things are worth it when you are holding your little bundle of joy! Thank you for stopping by the blog and for your comments :)

ReplyDeleteAfter my twins are born, I definitely missed my bump! In a way it was like a security blanket. I knew the girls were inside and they were safe and that made me content. When they were born, everything changed and that was scary! Thanks for linking up to the #BinkyLinky
ReplyDeleteOh I couldn't agree with you more on that point. The face that I knew my little girl was safe while she was cooking! I couldn't sleep for the first few weeks because I kept waking to she if she was okay! Thank you for hosting and we shall see you this week!
DeleteI am currently 30 weeks pregnant with my 3rd and my last and I know I will miss all of these again xx
ReplyDeleteI can remember feeling excited, nervous and very anxious all rolled into one in those last few weeks. But is all worth it to hold that bundle of joy in your arms. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy!
DeleteMy baby girl is 15 weeks old and I do miss being pregnant. It's the feeling of content I miss. Also the taking your time over things and not rushing about like a md woman like I do now! xx

I know that one my lovely, my toddler has wayyyyy to much energy this morning - as I write this comment she is climbing all over me asking what that is...haha! I wouldn't have it any other way!!! Thank you for stopping by and for your comments
DeleteThe main thing I miss is the movements. Both my two were really quite active in there, and I loved that weird sensation of them rolling around or sticking a foot out of my side! I feel really quite privileged to have experienced that. x #KCACOLS
ReplyDeleteI loved the result of my pregnancies and the excitement of knowing I'd have babies at the end of them, but I hated being pregnant. I was just so uncomfortable and huge!

The thing I miss most about being pregnant is watching the bump moving, knowing there is a little person in there waiting to come and meet you. Thanks for linking to #PicknMix
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean, there are some days when I miss being pregnant. Although I definitely don't miss the swollen feet and in the weather we've been having lately I would have been so uncomfortable. #marvmondays
ReplyDeleteA really nice reflection on pregnancy. At 38 weeks pregnant I can definitely say I'll probably miss all those things, especially as this is my second baby and I remember how much I missed my bump the first time round. Reading your post has made me appreciate these last few days that little bit more :-) Thanks for sharing it on #MarvMondays. Emily
