Let's SPLASH OUT in the Garden

It's spring, and parents are usually thinking about ways to get their little ones outside, away from screens, and into the fresh air. The garden is the perfect place to spend time when the sun is shining.

Exploring the outdoors gives children lots of opportunity to learn and stay active. It's even better if your whole family gets involved, so you can have fun together and become healthier. So this summer we have made a pledge to get outside and become more active as a family.

There are endless activities you can do that don't always have to cost a fortune, but bring hours of fun. We are fortunate to be able to enjoy being outdoors with a variety of garden toys - from toys that our daughter can play with alone to games that we can play together.

We have partnered up with Character Toys as a Stay Active Ambassador alongside Olympic champion Greg Rutherford. It is so important for families to try and be as active as they possibly can. Character want to try and motivate parents to reduce screen time and get their children active by creating family-inclusive toys that all families can enjoy.

The Stay Active range features lots of toys and games that can be played both inside and out, promoting great active fun. There are already a few favourites such as Jump It Lap Counter, KickerBall, and Moon Shoes, but new additions include Splash Out, a game that requires a person to throw the ball to another person to avoid getting splashed, and Sling Ball, where kids will love hooking the ball in a racquet net and launching it up to 60 feet.

The Stay Active range has been designed to get families moving, improve mental health and help reduce obesity with an added element of fun. So far, we have tested our jumping skills with Jump It Lap Counter and bouncing our way into summer fun with Moon Shoes.

With their toy range you will also be able to learn new skills that will aid movement, balance, improve self-esteem and most definitely boost confidence. Now, we have another fun and exciting opportunity to try Splash Out!

What is Splash Out?

Splash Out is an exciting action game that requires incredible skill, good coordination and nerves of steel. Do you have what it takes? It is so simple to set up. Fill your balloon with water (or air) and place inside the ball and carefully click into place, then wind up the timer! Everyone playing throws the ball back and forth until the timer stops. POP! SPLASH OUT! You can play outdoors and indoors (if you dare). Inside each box you will find 12 replaceable water balloons that you can carefully refill and begin another SPLASH OUT challenge. Throw, catch, avoid the SPLASH. Suitable for ages 3 years and over.

We were so excited to open our Splash Out game. Inside each box there was a Splash Out Ball that comes into separate parts and 12 Replaceable Water Balloons and a Set of Instructions. Each water balloon can be filled with water or air to about 9cm in circumference - so that the balloon fits inside the ball easily without bursting.

Being a part of the Stay Active range the Splash Out game can be played both indoors and outdoors. However, if you're brave enough to play indoors with water make sure you stay away from electrics or breakables.  It would be advisable to supervise your children at all times during play and encourage them to not through the ball too hard, no one wants any tears.

Splash Out is great fun. You can make the most of those sunny afternoons in the garden with a game that the whole family can get involved with. You simply fill up your balloon with water (or air), place inside the Splash Out ball and wind the timer. Then play catch! When the timer is up, be ready to get Splash Out!!! Splash Out is now available at Smyths and retails at £10.99 which is great value for the hours of fun in the sun with the whole family. Do you have what it takes?
