BIRCHBOX - June 2019 : This is the Life

It has been a little while since we have had a Birchbox review on the blog as life has been a little crazy and if I am being completely honest the last couple of boxes haven't really wowed me either. But back with a brand new box full of inspiration for June. Now with this month's box you are in for a real treat with their This is the Life beauty box that is all about the summer adventures. It is an exciting collaboration with Paperchase and for those that know me will understand the excitement. Who else gets excited about stationary? Each subscriber will receive a full sized Laritzy Lip Stix in the shades Plum or Gala as part of the monthly choice and a mini Benefit Gimme Brow. As this is in collaboration with Paperchase every subscriber will also get the chance to get 20% off in a store or online for yourself and friend.

If you're new to Birchbox they are one of the main leaders in the beauty box subscription game. Each month you will receive five deluxe samples and travel sized samples and these will be with makeup, skin care, body care or hair care. It's a great way to discover new products that you wouldn't normally come across if it wasn't for this little beauty subscription. So without further ado let's take a closer look.

LARITZY Cosmetics. Lip Stix in Plum. RRP | £20.00

This build able formula gives off the perfect bright lip that so many of us need. This colour really compliments my complexion. I love how easily it glides on and acts as a liner and a lipstick. This Shade Stix is perfect for pretty summer looks and this is a travel bag must-have. Sometimes an important part of self-love is embracing your colours and that is exactly what I am doing with this LARITZY shade. I have tried out quite a few products by LARITZY Cosmetics and haven’t been disappointed. On the plus that it is cruelty free as well.

Benefit. Gimme Brow in Warm Gold Blonde, Shade 2. RRP | £21.50

I have to make a confession. My brows are not something that I have been making time for, literally minimal maintenance. However with the new year I made a few new beauty promises to myself and upping my brow game was at the top of my list. And I think I have finally cracked it and have my routine. My favourite step with my brow routine are adding the powders as I am able to fill in my sparse eyebrows and build them up gradually so they appear natural. I use L'Oréal Paris Brow Artist Genius Kit and it's become a faithful. But it is nice to try something different and I have to say that I was surprised to see this in my Birchbox, it is a lot smaller than a regular sample but still enough to try it. I was sent the colour warm golden blonde, and my eyebrows are nowhere near blonde. So a bit of an oversight on the Birchbox side. I did try it and it turned my eyebrows ginger, so it's a no from me with the warm golden brown. However, this product is amazing! You hardly have to do anything. I previously spent ages filling in my whole brow with pencil which takes ages and if you make a little mistake it looked bad. With this you just do one or two strokes and you're done.

Rituals. The Ritual of Karma Body Cream. RRP | £18.50

When it comes to body cream nothing can beat Soap and Glory's Righetous Butter in my opinion and I always have some stashed away in my bathroom essentials. However, its nice to change it up from time to time. This velvety body cream combines the sweet, floral scent of florals with the nourishing power of white tea. Intensely hydrating and gorgeously scented, the rich formula sinks in quickly and leaves your body feeling soft and supple all day. The body cream itself is airy and creamy and sinks almost instantly into your skin, leaving your skin feeling soft right away. The cream also does well with sensitive skin, the skin on my limbs is usually quite sensitive and didn't have any reaction to it whatsoever. The cream is packaged in Rituals' standard body cream packaging, this time in an aqua marine colour.

Wander Beauty. Baggage Claim Gold Eye Mask. RRP | £20.00

This was the product that I was most looking forward to trying, because let's face it, as a mum I am prone to awful dark circles. A set of gold foil eye masks to brighten, hydrate, and reduce the appearance of dark circles. The gold foil helps retain heat and prevents evaporation allowing the maximum amount of serum to penetrate the skin. The middle layer is elastic so the masks will not slip and the third is an exclusive cellulose fibre that condenses and delivers key ingredients efficiently, giving you all the skin-loving benefits you need for instant results. Soo soothing and nourishing!! Great for a quick wake up! I’m so amazed but how much it has helped me, super effective. Not too pricey for what it’s giving, you’ll only know once you have tried it out.

Amika. Bust Your Brass Cool Blonde Shampoo. RRP | £18

Amika Bust Your Brass Cool Blonde Shampoo is an ultra-violet shampoo that keeps blonde colour light and bright. Sea buckthorn berry, wild cherry bark extract and avocado oil help to stop brassiness in its tracks as well as as inject moisture, elasticity and shine into your lock. However, due to being a brunette I couldn't actually try this shampoo. A mishap with my box this month.

In a nutshell, it seems like a good box. However, I am slightly disappointed with Birchbox and the fact that they send over two product that have been designed for people who have blonde locks and they are supposed to cater to your personal information that we have to update with every box. So for that reason this box I'm afraid it gets a thumbs down from me.

So what did you think? Are you a Birchbox fan? If not, you should at least try a couple of boxes. A monthly Birchbox subscription, with no long-term commitment, costs just £10 (+ £2.95 P&P) per month.
