Our Birthday Weekend in Alford

What a weekend! We have been talking about a winter getaway for some time, and seeing as my husband will be celebrating his 30th birthday seemed like a good excuse to adventure. We found such a place that's only a couple of hours away from our home in Norfolk. With a five minute drive to the local town of Maplethorpe, surrounded by beautiful tranquil beaches we sure wouldn't be short of an adventure or two at Grange Farm Park. We enjoyed the beautiful beaches, the fabulous walks and revelled in the tranquillity with the fishing lakes. It was one of the best weekends away.

We stayed at Breeze Lodge and as soon as you walk inside you will be in complete awe of the interiors. The decor is a mixture of earthy woods, warm textures that are more than complimented with smooth metallics detailing. All around the lodge you will have find some of the quirkiest pieces of decor that really add a certain character to the lodge and are perfectly placed. Both my husband and I loved the style and decor of Breeze lodge, so much so it's given us plenty of inspiration for our own home.

As we were travelling a little while as soon as we got to Grange Farm Park we decided to go The Stables Bar and Restaurant that incorporates a relaxed bar with lake views for guests wanting to drop in for an after-work beer or pre-dinner cocktail. The bar menu offers a wonderful selection of bottled beers, as well as house cocktails, Champagne and contemporary seasonal concoctions, alongside wines from around the world. For those on the lookout for a quick bite, The Stables offer an affordable and express option for breakfast, lunch and afternoon treats, serving sandwiches, paninis, soups, pizzas and homemade treats, most ingredients have also been locally sourced. We ate at The Stables a couple of times during our stay, and it's definitely something that all guests must do during their stay.

Being only a few hours drive away from the Lincolnshire coastline made our adventures much more exciting with miles and miles of gorgeous sandy beaches. You can choose from the bustling resorts like Skegness, Mablethorpe and Cleethorpes. A personal favourite has to be Skegness with roller coaster rides and a seal sanctuary there’s also plenty for kids to enjoy, whether it’s the thrills of a ride or the joy of seeing seal pups on their way back to being reintroduced to the wild. Skegness has something for everyone. You are certainly not short of a thing or two to do. We walked along the the beach, played in the amusements, pick up some sweet treats and ate at one of the most amazing restaurants; The Hollywood Bar and Diner just inside the Skegness Pier. After our meal we decided to go and adventure some more.

Everywhere in Skegness was absolutely packed as thousands of people, including competitors and crowds of racing fans that descending for the annual race weekend. We travelled to Skegness on one of the biggest weekends for motor cross fans that saw hundreds of competitors battling against the tough demands of the purpose-built track spanning the length and breadth of Skegness beach. There was so many crowds, hundreds of bikes and so much mud. Our daughter really enjoyed watching the motorbikes race up and down the tracks. It was pretty exciting. We had the best day at Skegness beach and decided it was time to head back towards our luxurious caravan so we could get into the hot tub.

On Sunday it was actually my birthday and my lovely daughter and gorgeous husband kindly made me the most delicious breakfast of bacon and maple syrup on pancakes. The best way to wake up. We all had a quick dip in the hot tub and headed off to Maplethorpe beach. A traditional seaside holiday resort on the Lincolnshire Coast with Blue Flag award winning sandy beaches. Safe and friendly, Mablethorpe is perfect for a family holiday However no beach visit is complete with an ice cream, even if it was November. After our ice cream we decided to head back towards the town to go and play in the amusements and have a mooch around the shops.

The birthday celebrations continued into the night with a coffee cake and prosecco. We cooked a family meal and watched Tinkerbell with the little lady, before she took herself and her DVD player into her room to 'chill after a hard day'. She was asleep withing minutes. We let poured another glass of prosecco and went into the hot tub, well it was my birthday.

We packed our bags and loaded them into the car and headed over to the stables for a cup of tea to warm us up before letting this little lady play on the park. However before we could even finish our she was outside making a new friends with a sheepdog. Grange Farm has been such a  beautiful escape and one that we intend on doing again, I have never been to a luxurious caravan before, but they are a home from home. We have so much inspiration for our own home with the interiors and decor, it really was so welcoming. It was such a shame that our weekend had to come to an end. But we both had an amazing birthday weekend together and we can't wait for more weekends like this.
