Christmas Eve Basket 2015

We absolutely love Christmas traditions and now that our daughter is a year old its time to make some of our own. A tradition that we really want to to start doing is a Christmas Eve basket filled with little surprises that make the night before Christmas extra special.

I really love the idea of a simple box or basket bringing everyone together, to make memories, and to spread some holiday cheer. There's just something magical about sharing this tradition with family and friends.

The best part about this new tradition is that is can be as simple or as extravagant as you like. It could include a few items to wind down before bedtime like a new set of cosy pyjamas, fluffy slippers or maybe a festive tale. Perhaps you could go a step further and include a baking set that include a new cookie cutter, a colouring book or maybe a new cup or a cute hot chocolate set. It will bring so much joy and the anticipation that this basket of goodies brings will be magical.

So, what is a Christmas Eve basket?

A Christmas Eve basket is a hamper filled with small, festive-themed presents, designed to be enjoyed the night before the big day. It’s similar to the idea of a stocking and has become a tradition for a lot of families over recent years. I cannot wait to share our baskets for years to come.

Christmas Pyjamas

Christmas pyjamas aren’t just clothes, they’re an annual tradition. We love them, and there’s something endearingly cheesy and lovable about a festive pyjama set. My daughter is definitely going to get into the festive spirit with these Minnie Mouse Pyjamas! Sure to make bedtimes a dream, the cosy set features charming character artwork a pair of striped bottoms.

A Festive DVD

Yep, nothing hits quite like Miracle on 34th Street, Santa Claus: The Movie or Home Alone 2: Lost in New York when it comes to a feel-good Christmas film. With a one year old these 90s nostalgic films are not going to be appreciated - so we have to keep it simple with films like The Polar Express, The Snowman or Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas. However, my husband decided to raid Tesco to get a DVD of a film that our daughter hasn't stopped wanting to watch - FROZEN. It's not technically a Christmas film, but we will just go with it as it has a winter theme. We also saw Peppa Pig: Christmas Show which includes ten more piggy tales featuring Peppa, her little brother George and friends. In the lead episode Mr Potato comes to town again Peppa and her classmates go to watch their unique take on a Christmas Show!

A Christmas Story

Reading is something that we do every night with our girl as part of her bedtime routine and now that we are heading into the December we are changing the types of books we are reading. I actually went to a local charity shop this week and managed to pick a whole bundle of Christmas tales and winter themed stories for less than £5!

A book included in the bundle was The Nativity Story: The Story of Baby Jesus by May Eliot. The greatest story ever told is born again in this beautiful new retelling of the nativity. The traditional feel and charming illustrations make it the perfect introduction to the Christmas story for little ones just discovering it for the first time.

Hot Chocolate

You can't possibly do Christmas Eve without a nice cup of hot chocolate in a brand new festive mug, can you? So, we got a couple of Galaxy Sachets for the three of us and then included a Rudolph milk glass complete with a straw.

Disney Frozen Elsa Doll

My daughter will be able to relive her favourite scenes and story moments with this Frozen Elsa Doll complete with her iconic blue dress and winged cape. The doll features a lovely hairstyle with a braided plate gathered on the side. The doll also comes with a small Olaf counterpart and a easy to use brush - perfect for any little one that adores Frozen.

Sweet Treats

It wouldn't be Christmas if we didn't include some sweet treat of some kind in our basket. We have included some candy canes, chocolate coins and a Milky Way Selection Box that we bought of Etsy which include a selection of Milky Bars and Buttons.
