Chocolate Apple Slice Pops

By far, October is my favourite month of the year, and I look forward to the change in nature, the crisp cool air, chunky knits, tan boots, and cinnamon-scented candles. As always this time of year is our busiest month in our social calendar and we have so many plans.

October will be filled with pumpkin picking, decorating for autumn, parties, trick-or-treating, and drinking too many pumpkin spiced lattes along the way.

Most of all, we enjoy spending quality time in the kitchen making special autumn treats together. Some of our favourite recipes include Orange Vanilla Spice Cookies, Peanut Butter Cookies and Chocolate Spider Web Cupcakes. In the meantime, we wanted to make a quick and easy treat that everyone can enjoy.

These Chocolate Apple Slice Pops may just become my favourite recipe. To be fair, it's not really a recipe; it's just apples, chocolate, and delicious toppings. Crunchy, sweet, and always delicious. These pops are a perfect sweet treat to make with the little ones.

If you don't want a whole slice of apple, you can cut the apples into wedges instead. Perfect for a small bite! The pops are a favourite after school treat, especially when my daughter has a friend over. They are always a big hit.

To make these Chocolate Apple Slice Pops you'll need:

300g chocolate, chopped
1 tbsp coconut oil
100g dried cranberries, chopped
100g pecans, chopped

1. Lay a piece of parchment paper onto a baking tray.

2. Melt the chocolate and coconut oil in a bowl set over a pan of simmering water, (do not let the base of the bowl touch the water). Stir the mixture until smooth and remove the bowl from the heat and gently stir.

3. Chop the dried cranberries into small bite sized pieces

4. Using a very sharp knife, carefully slice your apples into ½ inch slices and remove any apple seeds from the slices. With a paring knife, make a small slit into the bottom of each apple slice. This will help you insert the popsicle sticks easier. Carefully insert a lollipop stick into each piece of apple.

5. Dip the apple slices into the melted chocolate making sure to completely coat it with chocolate. Lay on the parchment paper to allow the chocolate to harden.

6. Immediately sprinkle with pecans and cranberries. Then pop them in the fridge for 15 minutes or until the chocolate is fully set.

This Chocolate Apple Slice Pop recipe makes them a great treat for children and you will have lots of fun making them together. We even made some scary monsters and zombies that are a great activity to do to get into the Halloween spirit.

Crispy, sweet, and delicious every time. The little ones will enjoy making these pops with you, which are the perfect sweet treat to enjoy. The best part is that you can use almost any topping you like. Why not try something new?
