Amelia Turns Two

It's officially my daughter's 2nd birthday!

How did this happen? How has it been two years already! I am in complete disbelief that two years ago today I went into labour with my Amelia. It feels like a lifetime ago that I was drinking all the raspberry leaf teas I could, eating as many curries that my body could take and spending hours bouncing on my yoga ball to try and help bring our daughter into the world. These two years have been a complete whirlwind. I feel so grateful everyday that I have had opportunity to watch my beautiful little girl grow. Amelia has become such a wonderful little girl and is always learning something new everyday, she astounds me, she amazes me and fills me with so much joy.

The day she was placed in my arms changed me forever, Amelia turned my life up-side-down and then right-side-up again. Being a mother has changed me in so many ways and in ways that I didn't think was possible. My daughter has taught me so much about myself in a short period of time and I am forever grateful that she has been so patient with her us as we continue to try and be the best parents we can be.

It was yesterday when I began to realise...We were coming home from the shops walking through our gate to the front door. My husband leading the way with way too many shopping bags and Amelia in toe. I don't know if it was the clothes she was wearing or the way she was walking but in that moment she truly looked like a little girl, no sign of a baby anymore.

That was a bittersweet moment. Amelia has grown up so much in this past year and perhaps even more so in the last few months. This time last year she had only started to walk, she had no hair and only could only manage a few words. But now she is such an independent and confident little girl, she knows her colours, numbers and can identify most animals, she loves to jump, dance, splash in the bath, eat raisin after raisin, tackle daddy and always makes time for mummy cuddles.

Everyday is an adventure for my little girl. There is a whole world for her to explore and I will be right there beside her giving her all the love and support in the world. I feel so lucky to live life with my daughter her kind heart inspires me everyday and I am so proud to be able to call myself her Mama.

Happy Birthday Little Lady...
