Bucket List: Holiday Edition

The world is packed with incredible destinations, to the extent that it’s just about impossible to see them all in a single lifetime. If you’re looking for new holiday experiences to add to your bucket list, in other words, you’ll be spoilt for choice.

But what if you’re stuck for inspiration? Let’s see if we can provide some, by touring a few of the world’s most amazing holiday destinations.

Explore the Northern Lights in Norway

The Northern Lights are among the most awe-inspiring natural wonders of the world. And there are few better places to see them than in the remote, northernmost reaches of Norway. Both Tromsø and Svalbard provide excellent vantage points, provided that you travel at the right time of year. The season stretches between September and April, which means if you’re planning a winter holiday, and the sky is clear, the chances are good that you’ll be able to spot them.

Safari Adventure in Kenya

If you have a passion for animals, then going on safari might seem like an obvious thing to put on the bucket list. When it comes to safari destinations, however, it’s difficult to beat Kenya. Here, you’ll be able to see the Big Five wild animals (these being the lion, elephant, leopard, rhinoceros, and African buffalo). You’ll also get a chance to see legendary landmarks, like Kilimanjaro, in the famous Amboseli National Park.

For a truly unforgettable experience, however, Maasai Mara game reserve stands out. It stretches across Narok, and it’s contiguous with the neighbouring Serengeti in Tanzania. Hundreds of thousands of animals migrate en masse during July of each year, which is among the most impressive natural events on the planet.

Skiing in Bulgaria

While you might more readily associate skiing with the prestigious resorts in Western Europe, there’s a lot to be said for Bulgaria as a destination. Resorts like Bansko, Borovets, and Pamporovo provide extremely impressive facilities, given the much lower price tag associated with them. Bulgaria ski holidays, in other words, punch well above their weight – and you won’t need deep pockets to cross this one off the bucket list.

Experience the Trans-Siberian Railway in Russia and Beyond

The Trans-Siberian Railway is a perfect fit for those looking to explore Asia at a leisurely pace. It’ll bring you up close to a variety of landscapes and cultures as it winds its way through Russia, and into Mongolia and later China. Among the incredible stopping points along the way are Lake Baikal, in southern Siberia, which can claim to be the deepest rift lake in the world, and the largest freshwater lake in the world by volume. It’s bigger than some European countries. Then there’s the Mongolian capital, Ulaanbaatar, which is the coldest capital city anywhere in the world, and boasts a culture that’s quite unlike any other.
