My Winter Skincare Gem: The Lotil Cream

It's pretty clear from the way it looks outside that winter is in full force. As I write this post I am cosy under a blanket with a chunky knitted jumper on and it's looking very grey and miserable outside. Despite the bitterness, it's one of my favourite seasons. I always look forward to snuggling up in blankets and reading a good book whilst watching the rain outside, however the same cannot be said for my skin. With the cold crisp air, it does mean plummeting temperatures, hot showers, crazy winds and whacking up the heating up to full - all things that are not great for my skin. Winter is notorious for leaving my skin dry, tight, flaky, chapped and itchy. That's without even mentioning how sensitive my skin can become. And so with winter being full in force I thought that it would be a good idea to talk about a winter skincare gem of mine that has been amazing for the winter and something you should definitely try.

During the winter I always try to keep a watchful eye on new brands that may help me battle the elements which is when Lotil kindly offered some products for a review. I can’t say that I have heard of Lotil before, but it’s a brand that’s stood the test of time. They have been providing a range of skincare products not only help with the symptoms of dry, chapped skin, they also help create a barrier against germs and bacterial for over a hundred years. Impressive, right? So if a brand has been around for so long they clearly know a thing or two about skincare. I couldn’t wait to try Lotil. We were kindly send two products; Original Cream in a super handy size and a tub so we had plenty to see is through the winter.

Dry hands are something that really take a hit during this time of year for me. The first step to dealing with all hands from the slightly tight to the seriously dry hands is to make sure that each and every time you wash them, you chase the drying soap with a moisturiser. By doing this will help put moisture back into your hands. Moisture is something that my hands certainly need. It is always best to pick up a formula that's lightweight and will instantly absorb into the skin so that you don't have any problems about applying it so often. Lotil cream does exactly this!. It’s easy to carry around. It leaves my hands feeling so moist, soft and smooth. It does all this without feeling greasy or leaving a residue on anything you touch after application.

I can't really say that another hand cream can match Lotil cream on it's performance on dry, chapped, broken or sore skin. When it comes to moisturising the skin, the cream is surprisingly fast absorbing which means it doesn’t feel greasy but leaves a slight rubbery film behind for longer protection. It leaves the skin feeling, soft, smooth and hydrated. The scent to the cream is quite interesting, it's almost like a mixture between talcum powder and old fashioned soap which was quite pleasant. After using the Lotil cream for a little while I could definitely notice an improvement to my dry skin whenever I use the product. It's been amazing for my eczema.

Lotil cream is a great all rounder when it comes to hydrating the skin. Meanwhile I use it on my hands on a daily basis, I have also starting to use the cream on my feet, pop some socks on over night. My feet are super soft by the morning. Some use Lotil as a facial moisturiser and others like to use it to keep dry Eczema patches under control or even as a hydrating nail cream. For me, the only thing I didn't like was the packaging mainly because it doesn't look very exciting. Personally, I think if it was more eye catching it would appeal to more people in the market. But other than that minor dislike, the cream itself has been pretty amazing for my skin and I will always recommend this to people who need a good hand cream. You can get some of this wonder cream at your local boots and it's only £3.59 for a 50ml tube.

We were kindly gifted products from Lotil for the purpose of this review. But as always my words and the images are my own.
