The Sea-Monkeys Ocean Treasure Aquarium

It’s so important to raise a child who cares about themselves and others. Helping your child develop a sense of responsibility at a young age can build their self-esteem and lead to a strong work ethic later in life. But teaching your children to be responsible can have its ups and downs. but you can make it more fun when you have a few tricks up your sleeves.

Simple games, chores and activities that involve your child at a young age can be a fantastic way to encourage your child and will definitely make an impact on their confidence, self-worth and overall development.  Learning through experiences and play is a powerful thing.

We are always looking for ways to encourage our daughter to learn about the world and her surroundings, and as she heads into another year, taking on a little more responsibility too. And, growing her very own Sea-Monkeys may just be the perfect solution to taking on that extra responsibility.

We have been kindly sent over some fascinating Original Sea-Monkeys Sets to bring to life. My daughter loves wonders of sea life and creatures, so this will definately get a huge thumbs up from her. Inside our Sea-Monkeys bundle we received The Classic Sea-Monkeys Zoo Aquarium, A Sea-Monkeys Mystery Egg Kit and The Sea-Monkeys Ocean Treasure Aquarium.

What are Sea-Monkeys?

Sea-Monkeys are little aquatic creatures also known as brine shrimp or artemia. Despite their name they are not actually monkeys and they do not live in the sea. In fact, sea monkeys are a hybrid breed of brine shrimp that were created to be able to go through a process where they hatch and grow once the eggs are placed in purified water. Once the process is complete, little shrimp-like creatures will be floating around, eating, growing, and maybe even having babies right in front of your eyes.

Not only are they relatively inexpensive, easy to care for and can live up to five years under ideal conditions, but they can be a fun and educational way to learn about responsibility. However, it’s important to note that they are not toys and should be treated with care and respect.

These little Sea-Monkeys are fascinating. Every set is filled with everything you possibly need to create your very own collection of shrimp-like creatures. These sets are a great opportunity for curiosity, fun, and learning - all rolled into one!

How To Grow your Own Sea-Monkeys in 3 Easy Steps.

If you are ready to go on your own Sea-Monkeys adventure, then just follow these easy instructions and you too can have your very first collection of Sea-Monkeys. First things first, you need to make sure that you air your tank daily during the first seven days to ensure that your baby Sea-Monkeys get oxygen until they are big enough to swim to the top of the tank.

You can use a Million-Bubble Air Pump to do this, which are only available in some of the sets. You will need to give 10 to 15 pumps a day. Otherwise, you will have to get some air into the tank by pouring water back and forth into a second container at least ten times. Whatever you do, do not over feed as this will cause a bacteria build up in the tank. If the bacteria gets out of control, it will continue to eat up all the oxygen and the little Sea-Monkeys will suffocate and die.

Step 1: Pour 340ml/12ozs of water into any clean glass container or your special Sea-Monkey tank. Distilled water at room temperature is recommended, but tap or spring water may be used. Simply tear open Pouch 1 with of 'Water Purifier' and pour the contents into the water and stir. Then stand the tank safely away from direct sunlight, excess heat or cold for one day.

Step 2: After waiting 24 hours, open Pouch 2 of 'Instant Live Eggs' and add the the contents to the water and stir for one minute. Then hold your tank up to the light and you will, hopefully, see small specks of life swimming against the current. Keep the aquarium in shaded, but not dark area, away from direct sunlight.

Sea-Monkeys take up to a week to hatch, and even when they do hatch, they are so incredibly tiny that a lot of people assume they did something wrong. It takes time for them to grow, so this is something that may need to be explained to a child who is impatient and is expecting to see their new pets right away.

Step 3: Five to seven days later, use a Sea-Monkey Feeding Spoon to add one small scoop of powder from Pouch 3 'Growth Food', but do not stir this time. Then, once a week feed one level scoop of food to your Sea-Monkeys. To feed baby Sea-Monkeys use the small cup on the feeding spoon and use the large cup to feed adult Sea-Monkeys. If the water gets cloudy, you are over feeding them. Do not feed again until the water turns clear.

How Long Can Sea-Monkeys Live For?

These little Sea-Monkeys as pets, they can live for up to a year. However, under the ideal conditions they can live up to five years. One of the best reasons to own a sea monkey is that there are a lot of opportunities to grow and learn about nature and biology. There are also a lot of fun facts to learn along the way.
