Our Yearly Date Night - Lynn Mediterranean Cafe and Bar

It was that time of year again, our wedding anniversary. However, this year was a little special because we were celebrating our fifth year anniversary. It's feels odd I must say. How can it be five years already, a bit cliche, but it only feels like yesterday. But seeing as we were celebrating five whole years being a Mr & Mrs we needed to do something a little special, but when it came to it, all we really wanted to do was to spend some quality time together, eat and get drunk! Being parents, a night out to go out to eat and go get drunk are few and far between, so we were determined to do it this year. We asked my husband's mum whether she would have the little lady for the night, her first sleep over. It's strange to think that a sleep over is not something that we have ever really thought about because we enjoy doing things as a three. Our daughter has always been a great sleeper so our evenings would always be free to spend some time together, even if it is Netflix and nap!

As our yearly date night was coming by and we wanted to go somewhere a little special. Lynn Mediterranean Cafe Bar & Restaurant was somewhere that we both loved and so it made complete sense. When the little lady was born we would spend most our afternoons in here, but as she got older our time out in the afternoons became less and less and taking her out for something to eat became quite the chore. So for our anniversary meal we decided to go and discover their new menu.

Lynn Mediterranean Cafe and Bar has always been known for their outstanding customer service, ever single meal we've had at Lynn has always been amazing and the service is beyond amazing. As soon as we walked in we were welcomed by a super friendly chap who showed us to our table and asked for our drink order. Being a girl who loves a cocktail or two, the waiter recommended some of the most refreshing cocktails, a Strawberry Daiquiri or two later it was time for food. I know that not everyone likes to share food for all you 'Joey from Friends' out there, both my husband and I like to share our starters. I decided to choose the Char-grilled Koftas; minced lamb with herbs, onion and tomatoes served with rice and chili sauce. It was like a meal itself as the portion were pretty big. My husband ordered the King Prawns and Baby Prawns and I don't normally eat prawns but they were surprisingly tasty. Cooked with shallots, red peppers, white wine & cream sauce topped with melted mozzarella and cheddar along with some delicious herb bread.

For my main meal I decided to order the Poulet Farci. It was so delicious. It was a chicken breast stuffed with spinach & ricotta wrapped in parma ham which was served in a mushroom sauce and sauteed potatoes. It wasn't something that I would usually go for on a menu, but tonight seeing as it had been a while since eating out I decided to try something new. I'm sure that this Poulet Farci was jam packed with calories, but it was a dish that I didn't regret. My husband had the Lynn Mix Grill. Lamb chops. koftas, chicken wings, chicken fillet, halloumi cheese served with grilled tomatoes, peppers, mushrooms, salad, rice and homemade chilli sauce. Lynn Mediterrean Cafe and Bar homemade chilli sauce is so tasty. Actually I would go as far to say that it's probably one of the best chili sauces I have had and go so well inside a chicken burger or on a salad.

Then a couple more cocktails and we made our way out into the freezing cold to have drinks at Soul Café and Restaurant, which has only been opened a few months. The Soul Café & Restaurant is the brainchild of chef Olivier Vati and his paediatrician partner, Helen Payne. Olivier is originally from the French Caribbean paradise of Guadeloupe, while Helen is a Norfolk girl born and bred – a combination of cultures that is perfectly reflected in the fusion cuisine that is the Soul Café & Restaurant’s trademark. As soon as you walk in, the atmosphere is so warm and welcoming and smells amazing. We were escorted to a quiet spot near the kitchen so we could enjoy a couple of cocktails, and a delicious dessert. Like seriously how amazing does this look? Now I am going to tell you a little story about this dessert which looks too good to eat. My husband thought that it would be a good idea to have some fun with his oh so gullible inebriated wife! So yes, see those flowers? Ah looks super pretty, don't they? Well my husband told me that they were edible. And I stupidly believed him and ate one of those pansies down there. As soon as I ate into the bud I soon realised what he was up to! The bugger! But all in all, we had a wonderful evening spending some time together celebrating our fifth anniversary. We ate, we drank and we laughed (at my expense) but it was great way to spend some quality time with each other too.
