Women don't generally like talk about their periods, but it's something that us ladies have to deal with every single month and personally it's the part of the month that I cannot wait to see the end of. Let's face it periods suck! Even though this may be the case it is something that we have to prepare for, practically and emotionally. You spend about a week before your period being emotional and hormonal and then when your period actually makes an appearance your mood swings are kicked up a notch or five making you feel grumpy and tired. Last month I made a little discovery in the form of a little subscription box from Pink Parcel that will help ease those mood swings, be practical and soon become something that I look forward to every month.
If you’re new to Pink Parcel it’s a subscription service for your monthly cycle who send you what you need, right when you need it as well as some lovely treats to brighten up those days of the month. With three dispatch dates to choose from, Pink Parcel literally take care of everything and will ship your box before your period is due. If you’re worried about flows and absorbencies, they have that covered too as you can choose your preferred brand as well as the type of sanitary items to suit your flow making it completely bespoke to your needs.
I must admit I was really looking forward for my parcel arriving. It was a letter box sized with a pale grey and pink theme throughout and inside contain lots of little boxes and even a bag. All separate for me to use as and when I need them. A box for you, a box for night, a cotton bag and a box for later. For my subscription, I chose a mixture of pads and tampons too use throughout the month and there are more than enough. Without further ado here’s what you can expect to see inside this month’s Pink Parcel.
For you - a little something to cheer you up
Wow this little box jam packed full of goodies that are perfect, actually a necessity to see you through the mood swings and pains with periods. I must say I thoroughly enjoyed going through this box and finding some products that I have been meaning to try. For me the beauty picks stood out the most with a shimmering bronzer, primer, a nourishing mask and herbal balm to calming tea and oh so crunchy chocolate. So let's take a closer look.
Doisy & Dam, Maple, toasted rice and pink salt dark chocolate | RRP £1.75
Who doesn't love chocolate this time of the month? Personally, it's an essential that I like to indulge in every month. So when I opened the box to discover the bright yellow and red packaging, I was intrigued. I don’t really like dark chocolate but it’s meant to be better for you. This one is made in the UK and is vegan and gluten and soya free. It has a nice crunch to it from the toasted rice and the pink salt really sweetens the chocolate which makes it a lot nicer than normal dark chocolate. You can really taste the cocoa, so if you're a fan of dark chocolate you will love this one.
Yuyo, Yerba Zing Tea bag | RRP £4.35 for 14.
Being a self certified tea addict I was only too pleased to see this in my box. Normally this time of the month I swear by a cup of chamomile tea to help ease the pains and bloating that comes with periods. This one from Yuyo is a blend of grapefruit and rosehip and is packed full of antioxidants.
Emily Victoria, Candle Wax Melt in Chocolate Chip | RRP £1.25
I'm obsessed with candle wax melts so I was happy to see this in the box. But a chocolate chip wax melt, yes please! I couldn't wait to try this and in a nutshell it's amazing. The scent smelt gorgeously chocolatey, not at all artificial and lasted for hours and hours. I can’t wait to check out more of these. I quite like the packaging, it’s simple and easy to recycle. It does feel a little thin but I think for the price it’s expected. They have loads of different scents so I might have a look at trying a different one.
Scentered, Love Luxury Mini Therapy Balm | £14.50 for full size.
At first I thought that it was a lip balm, yep it's not! This gorgeously scented roll-on is packed full of rose, cedar wood and patchouli essential oils. A comforting and calming balm to warm the heart and restore inner peace. Reach for LOVE when you are feeling overwhelmed, emotionally drained or simply out of sorts. A beautiful fragrance to relax and unwind with. This is not something that I am not very familiar with but I did find that it had such a calming effect when placed on my wrists.
Evelyn Iona Costmetics, Green Tea Primer | RRP £28
Do you use a Primer? I have only recently started to use a primer. Before this, I thought that it was a waste of money - how wrong was I? A make-up primer is one little gem that I will no longer go without as there are so many benefits to using one. A primer can help make your pores smaller, soften your skin, helps your make-up look better lasts much longer. I have been using L'Oréal Paris Primer and I can only tell you good things about it. I must admit I have become a little obsessed with primers and cannot wait to try this green tea primer. Prep and protect your skin with this hydrating, antioxidant-rich, skin-friendly formula made with Organic Green Tea. It creates a smooth canvas for makeup application, reduces the look of lines and pores and will help your makeup last!
Hikari Cosmetics, Shimmer Bronzer in Luster | RRP £13
I don't know about you, but I am completely done with winter and can't wait to welcome the warmer weather and those sun kissed make up looks. This quad consisted of 4 beautiful and highly pigmented shades that could be mixed together for a pretty shimmery bronzed look or applied separately as eyeshadows. The bronzer I received in the box unfortunately arrived smashed to pieces but customer services were great and they sent out a replacement one for me which came they next day!
Vitamasques, Manuka Honey Hydrating + Moisturising Sheet Mask | RRP £12.99 for 4.
I must admit, face masks are something that I tend to avoid because my skin is super sensitive and I always worry I may have a reaction. But this one looks as if it's going to be kind to my skin. Boasting anti-inflammatory and moisturising properties, spotty skin will be banished to reveal a nourished healthy glow that will leave you buzzing with excitement (see what I did there). This mask felt so luxurious and left my skin feeling so soft and glowing for days afterwards without any reactions. WOO!
For night - to use at bedtime
There's nothing worse than having to wake up during the night to change a sanitary towel, so I always like to have a couple of night time pads to see me through the month. This box was fully equipped with some night time sanitary towels. These ones are slightly more absorbent and longer.
For now - a cotton bag for everyday.
In the Pink Parcel subscription box you also get a cute cotton bag to use, I think that this is a pretty inventive idea as there's nothing worse that your child going into your handbag to pull out your tampons. So I will be able to disguise them very well with this cotton pull string bag. Inside the bag was a couple of tampons and panty liners, perfect for on the go.
For later - It's a monthly thing.
The last box that came in my pink parcel was a slightly larger boxes equipped with a bunch of tampons that would be more than sufficient to last the entire month and probably a few for the following month.
I have really enjoyed this month’s box and I’m so glad that I came across this little Pink Parcel. Have you ever tried Pink Parcel before?
