Upping My Brow Game

Eyebrows are big right now and I’m not talking about big as in, big and bushy! I’m talking about the fact that brow makeup has pretty much exploded. Those days of thin, over plucked, arched eyebrows are long gone and big bold brows are in. Many brands are getting on the brow train so you are kind of spoiled for choice and there a bunch of different products out there so you can get those fleeky looking brows.

But I have to make a confession. My brows are not something that I have been making time for, literally minimal maintenance. However with the new year I made a few new beauty promises to myself and upping my brow game was at the top of my list. I started playing around with all the different tools and techniques you can use to try and improve the way my brows look. From spoolies, gels, highlighting the brow, all-in-one pallets, anything that is going to put you in the running for those perfect eyebrows really. I have tried some good products but like any part of your makeup routine it can take a lot of time and practice to perfect your brows. And I think I have finally cracked it.

Eyebrows help frame your face well and also enhances your overall look. So if you wish to flaunt those gorgeous brows, make some changes and up your brow game The most important thing to remember with brows is that they need regular maintenance. Always keep your eyebrows groomed even you don’t have enough time to visit a salon by using tweezers. But don’t just use any pair tweezers. Choose a good quality pair of tweezers, as they will help you groom your brows better.

I started with these Rubis Tweezers which may come as some kind of surprise as tweezers are not something that people use about anymore. Many prefer threading in place of a regular plucking or waxing, but threading hurts so I’ll stick to a pair of tweezers for my regular brow maintenance. I tend to use tweezers to shape the under and over brow area and the odd stragglers here and there. However if I have neglected my brows for some time, I'll wax and keep on top of them with tweezers. These gorgeous rose gold tweezers are made of surgical steel, acid-proof, anti-magnetic and even rustproof. These tweezers are slanted perfectly to create a precision grip, meaning it makes brow maintenance quick and precise.

Always brush your eyebrows with brow or lash comb when you wake up in the morning and before you put on any eyebrow makeup. It really helped to keep them in place and you are able to keep on top of maintenance too. The most important part of any brow routine is filling in your brows is, in my opinion, it’s the fun part. Your brows frame your face, and you’ll be amazed at the difference such a simple step makes.

You can simply use an eyeliner or eyebrow kit to fill your eyebrows. Just remember to blend. Take a spoolie brush and brush gently back and forth a few times before smoothing all the hairs in the same direction. This keeps the brows from looking too drawn on or dark. For this I really love using Soap & Glory Archery™ Brow Tint and Precision Pencil to get precise brows as you can use the pen to outline and the pencil to fill in. The colour 'brownie points' is perfect colour for me. Personally I really love the pen side as it delivered natural brows in seconds and was much easier than using eyebrow/eyeliner brushes that often appear too thick for brows to look natural, plus they really avoided looking drawn on. This was genuinely amazing. The pencil side was pretty standard which I use only to fill in the front of my brows.

My favourite step with my brow routine are adding the powders as I am able to fill in my sparse eyebrows and build them up gradually so they appear natural. I use L'Oréal Paris Brow Artist Genius Kit and it's become a faithful. Inside this kit you get a tinted wax, setting powder, a mini pair of tweezers and a double ended brush which comes with a firm angled brush on one end and a spoolies on the other. The kit is so neat and compact and comes with a mirror in the lid so it is perfect to pop into your handbag.

Lastly adding a brow gel is perfect for keeping those on fleek eyebrows in place. This clear formula grooms bow and adds shine without flaking, clumping or crunchiness. You can either use these over brow for a more natural unruly look or on top of other brow products to help give the extra staying power. I love browcote!! I use it pretty much every time I do my makeup now. It seals in all the product I use and keeps my brows in good shape all day without leaving them feeling heavy or crusty. Even though upping my brow game is only something I have started I really am so happy with how they look. I have to say with my new brow routine I am able to get those on fleek eyebrows on a daily basis, so much so I never leave the house without my brows on. I honestly think that this is down to these products that have helped me up my brow game, I have perfected my technique.

So, if you want to up your brow game go and search for some new products and make some changes to your routine. You may be surprised what a few steps can do to your brow game.
