Autumn is in full swing, and with Halloween just around the corner, there’s no better way to spread a little seasonal cheer than with a boo basket. Whether you're surprising your children, your partner, your bestie, or even your neighbours, boo baskets are a fun and thoughtful way to celebrate the spooky season without the tricks.
If you haven't heard of them before, Boo Baskets are little Halloween gift baskets you secretly leave for your child filled with spooky treat, small goodies and festive surprises. Think of it as a spooky twist on an Easter basket or a mini care package with a Halloween vibe. You can make them as simple or elaborate as you like and tailor them to your liking and budget.
This year, we've gone for a pink and black theme because who says that Halloween has to be orange and green, and just the right amount of spooky. It is a playful twist with a spooky yet chic vibe. When curated this type of theme thin 'glam spooky' or 'pretty but creepy' with soft pinks like bubble gum, blush, or dusty rose paired with matte black, glitter, and touches of silver or iridescent accents.
Here are some of the things that we included in our Boo Basket for 2025 that are sure to put a smile on our little pre-teen (gosh, that feels weird to write).
Pink & Black Sweet Mix
Halloween Popcorn, Little Monster Treats or Apple Slice Pops
Hot chocolate sachets & pink marshmallow
Pink Ghost Fleece Pyjamas
Pink Halloween Bow Ghost Bedding Set
Bow Ghost Blanket
Pink Boo Socks
A Disco Ghost Mug
A Black Satin Hair Bow
Paint Your Own Halloween Hanging Decorations
Use a small basket, bucket or even a show box that you have decorated. Line it with pink tissue paper, arrange the goodies and you can even go all out and wrap it up with a layer of cellophane and a black ribbon. You could also add a cute little Boo Wand or a tag that says "You've Been Boo'd!" or "Hey Boo!"
In a world that often feels busy and disconnected, boo baskets are a simple way to show someone you’re thinking of them. They’re not about spending loads—they’re about creating joy, connection, and a little seasonal magic. Whether you drop one off anonymously or hand it over with a smile, it’s a gesture that lingers long after the sweets are gone.
It is a fun surprise that keeps the Halloween magic alive without making it too childish. Whether you give it on the 1st of October, during half term or the night before Halloween - it's a sweet tradition that you will look forward to every year.
I always enjoy making these adorable boo baskets for my daughter because it just feels so fun. For past baskets I have even taken some things that she already has and incorporated them into the basket. But you can pick up some adorable sets from Home Bargains, BnM, Aldi and Poundland.
