Norfolk is a landscape shaped by quiet beaches, winding lanes and little pockets of magic waiting to be uncovered. That’s exactly what we stumbled upon over the weekend, hidden away in a place called BeWILDerwood, where storytelling meets treetop adventures, giant slides, and just a dash of woodland magic. This time, we bought our little nephew along for the ride.
As soon as you arrive at BeWILDerwood it feels like you have stumbled upon the pages of a storybook. The adventure park comes to life filled with Boggles, Twiggles and lots of curious woodland creatures. All seamlessly woven into a one-of-a-kind design.
With treehouses, gentle boat rides, and whimsical craft sessions make every corner feel like part of the tale. My daughter and nephew's eyes lit up as we crossed the wooden bridge into the forest, greeted by laughter and adventure. No screens, just fresh air, muddy shoes and endless opportunities to run wild.
Our BeWILDerwood adventure began with a gentle boat ride across the ‘Scaaary’ Lake. We drifted through the trees, spotting playful scenes and saw characters like Swampy the Marsh Boggle and Mildred the Crocklebog. The highlight was our boat calling out a cheerful “YOOHOO!” to Mildred as we passed.
Once back on dry land we headed into the main part of BeWILDerwood which was filled with towering wooden play structures perfect for climbing and exploring. Behind every corner was another adventure from giant treehouses, wobbly zip wires, slippery slides and muddled mazes. It was a great place to really let you wild side out.
My nephew is a little daredevil and went on the biggest slide over and over, while my daughter had to build up some courage. But once she did, there was no stopping her. It was all about climbing, sliding, and being together in a whimsical woodland world.
Food and Drink
At BeWILDerwood for those that want an easy grab and go food then The Munch Bar offers a tempting food selection with sandwiches, wraps, sausage rolls, jacket potatoes, cakes, and ice creams, and drinks all of which are made with locally sourced ingredients. There are also plenty of picnic spots if you prefer to bring your own feast.
Our lunchtime choices included a cheese and a ham kids lunch box, a sausage roll for my husband (who believes pastry is a food group), and a tuna sandwich with crisps for the refined diner. Yep, my favourite combo.
After lunch, we slowed the pace and wandered to the crafting corner. The tent was bursting with colourful materials and creative activities. Because it was half‑term, everything had a Halloween twist. We even held a “Best Bat” competition at our table - my nephew proudly took the win.
It was so refreshing to visit a place that changes with the seasons. There is a kind of magic that makes this place evermore inviting during the spooky season. The autumn leaves crunching underfoot, the stunning pumpkin décor and lanterns that glow in the twilight. BeWILDerwood transforms into a woodland of wonder. We love visiting pumpkin patches or going trick-or-treating, but going to BeWILDerwood during Halloween was a fantastic alternative.
During the day, explores can climb and zip through the treehouses and wooden play structures. Explore the storytelling areas and meet BeWILDerwood characters like Swampy and Mildred. It is great to spend time with family and friends in the magical woodland play with a spooky seasonal twist.
The Twig or Treating at BeWILDerwood is a gentle, family‑friendly twist on trick‑or‑treating where children can meet characters and collect little surprises along the way. As the sun begins to set, families can follow a softly lit trail Glorious Glowing Lantern Parade through the woods which is just the right amount of spooky but never scary.
