Explore the Adventure: Disney On Ice Dream Big Tour

A love for Disney is something that never really goes away, if anything it grows. Whenever I think about Disney it takes me back to my childhood and the fond memories of love, magic and fairy tales. Now that I have my own daughter I want the magic to continue. That's exactly what happened last week we we had one of the most amazing opportunities to go and see Disney on Ice at the Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham. We were so excited to go and see the show, and you might remember from our first post about Disney on Ice Dream Big, that some of my daughter's favourite characters were going to be appearing in the show. We couldn't wait to dream big!!!

Disney On Ice Dream Big

For the first time in Europe, join fearless Moana and the greatest demigod that ever lived, Maui, on an action-packed voyage to restore the stolen heart of Te Fiti, live on ice! Get tangled up in Rapunzel’s hair-raising quest to see the floating lights. Travel to mountainous Arendelle with Anna, Elsa and Olaf in a dramatic retelling of the sisterly love that saved a kingdom. And discover the strength, bravery and kindness that inspired generation after generation with Jasmine, Ariel, Aurora, Belle and Cinderella. Plus, arrive early to join a special 90th birthday celebration in honour of Walt Disney’s ‘True Original,’ Mickey Mouse. We were so excited to go on our little adventure.

We had a little way to travel to go and see the show, so we organised an early pick up at the school and then set off on our two hour journey. Once we arrived in Nottingham we soon discovered that it's definitely a change from the calm country roads in Norfolk. We managed to find a car parking space on a little side road, after failing to find an actual car park twice. It only cost £4 so absolute bargain. We then made our way to the Motorpoint Arena which was a ten minute walk for us and we couldn't wait to get inside to meet the characters and see the show. Our excitement was short lived as we had trouble getting access into the arena due to the security guards. I wasn't aware that there are certain items that are prohibited and your bags have to be within a certain measurement. I was denied access to the arena due to my camera, they deemed my camera too professional. I can honestly say that my Samsung NX10 is far from professional. One security guard was more than happy to try and help us get the camera into a locker, however another one said that none were available. Clearly we had caught him on a bad day as we discovered lots of unopened lockers on our arrival after we took the camera back to the car.

We wanted to put that to the back of our mind and get excited about the show. From the moment we stepped into the Motorpoint arena it was all smiles and excitement and you could feel the positive atmosphere. We collected our tickets and headed to a special meet and greet that we was slightly late for, but we got a little goody bag that was full of treats. We then made our way inside the arena and were showed to our seats, which were amazing! We could see everything in the show, whilst being able to make a quick exit during the intermission.

It was showtime! After a brief introduction by Mickey and Minnie Mouse I then looked over at my daughter and she was full on crying, I couldn't actually believe she was crying. Of course they were happy tears and I have to admit it took me quite a bit to hold back my tears. Mickey and Minnie Mouse tried to encourage the audience to get up on their feet and dance, which we did, very well! We were treated to the main event, which kept the crowd captivated from start to finish. Mickey and Minnie did of course make regular appearances throughout the show and helped to connect each of the stories to the next. With a little Tinkerbell in toe.

We absolutely loved Disney on Ice Dream Big show, and it made my little girl's year. We are already making plans to go to the tour next year. We all loved this show because it had a great mixture of characters including some of our favourites such a Rapunzel, Anna, Ariel and even Moana in her first debut with Disney on Ice. There are some amazing scenes recreated on the ice from Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Rapunzel, Sleeping Beauty and of course Frozen, which was so spectacular. Our favourite parts of the Disney On Ice show was the Frozen with Anna, Elsa, Kristoff and of course Olaf. But for my mum said shee really enjoyed the Moana part of the show where Maui comes out to sing 'Your Welcome' and we all sang along. We all absolutely loved it, especially all the special effects onto the rink.

First up on the ice was Aladdin, where ice skaters recreated the market place scene where Aladdin first meets Princess Jasmine. Both my daughter, mum and I were mesmerised by their beautiful and skillful skating as they glided across the ice rink. It must have taken the skater so long to mastered their skills on the ice. The Beauty and the Beast segment of the show that everyone was singing along to, Belle being my favourite princess, this was by far a favourite part of the show for me with the song 'Be Our Guest'. It was a shame that the beast didn't feature in the main event, it would have been lovely for them to recreate the 'Tale as Old as Time' moment. My daughter was so happy to see The Little Mermaid singing 'Under The Sea' with Sebastian, Flounder and friends taking us on a journey beneath the waves and we even caught a glimpse of Ursula.

There were also other performances during the first part of the show including Tangled, Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty, with the a special fire breathing dragon. The clever use of pyrotechnics creates small flames across the ice as the Prince battled with the dragon. It was a pretty spectacular moment. It most definately caught many members of the audience by surprise, with lots of gasps.

It was then a small intermission and so we brought a couple of snacks. My daughter wanted some chips while I settled on some nachos. I did find that some of the refreshments were quite pricey and I think next time we will take our own. The final act was one that we really couldn't wait for - Frozen. My daughter really loves Anna and was very excited when she saw her come onto the ice, she did try to get her attention by screaming Anna. But Anna was the ever so professional and waved. We were taken on an little adventure to the town of Arendelle. We were treated to songs Love Is An Open Door, For The First Time In Forever and Let It Go. Snow fell from the rooftop which added to the magic and created a beautiful wintry sight. It was honestly so good. I have never been to a show like it!

In a nutshell, Disney on Ice Dream Big is a wonderful family show to take your children to. It was one of the most amazing shows that I have ever been to and one that everyone should experience in their life time. It was spectacular, amazing and soooo magical! This show is perfect for those who adore princesses, or those who love to dream big.

We were kindly gifted tickets for Disney on Ice, however all my words are my own.
