Hosting The Perfect Girls Night In...

So, it's that time of year where we have to say goodbye to the sunshine, beautiful blue skies, and all those summer adventures and begin to welcome the colder weather, cosy evenings and the back to school hustle and bustle. I for one, will be only too happy to welcome in the autumn and winter months, they are my favourites seasons. With this in mind I have been thinking about the perfect girls night in filled with cocktail making, oh so naughty sweet treats, a Netflix binge and a pamper evening.

Being a pre-teen girl in the 90s was awesome. Pedal pushers were a thing. And so were tamagotchi's, and those neon friendship bracelets. We watched Saved By The Bell reruns, lived for Sweet Valley High, and gave our hearts to the Fresh Prince of Bel Air. But come who doesn't love a throwback and so every girl's night isn't complete without a few of these classics from the good ole 90s and noughties. Some favourites:

Spice Girls:: Wannabe

TLC :: No scrubs

Britney Spears :: (You Drive Me) Crazy

N*Sync :: Bye, Bye, Bye

Aqua :: Barbie Girl

Destiny's Child :: Say My Name

Backstreet Boys:: I want it that Way

Is there anything more necessary in life than a quality girls' night in every now and then? It's a time to unwind on the sofa with the friends maybe some popcorn and a glass of wine, while you're at it. Of course, if you're looking to get lost in a TV show or film together, your faithful companion is your good old pal Netflix. Luckily, the service has something to offer for any and every situation. Here are some favourites:

Gilmore Girls

Orange is The New Black

Suits

Gossip Girl

Pretty Little Liars

The Vampire Diaries

What’s a girls night without some sweet treats!? Crisps, pretzels, popcorn and chocolate, yummy! No girl's night in is complete without a selection of snacks. For extra special treat and if you're good in the kitchen then you can find the most delicious treats in the wonderful world of Pinterest. I like to whip up something special as treat once a week and without fail my cookie recipes or the ultimate peanut cookie recipe are always a favourite. However, make some healthy, delicious food too. You could try some small sandwiches, crackers and dip, fresh fruit and veggies, yogurt, maybe even a few lollies, and popcorn for the your Netflix binge.

Whether it's wine, champagne or some a home made punch, choose something you enjoy! I love cocktails and nothing is more fun on a girls night in than making a cocktail or two. Mine has to be a Miami Vice, or a Strawberry Rosé Sangria as it's probably one of the most tastiest cocktails I've ever tasted.

To make this you'll need:

2 (750 ml) bottles rosé wine
2 cups strawberry vodka
5 cups lemon-lime soda
1/2 cup sugar
20 fresh strawberries hulled and sliced
Instructions

1 In a large pitcher, combine wine, vodka, and 1/2 of the strawberries. Taste for sweetness and add sweetener if necessary, and stir.

2. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours or up to 6.

3. Just before serving, add Sprite, the rest of strawberries and gently stir.

In the mood to chill and unwind? There's no better way than an at-home spa treatment. You and the girls could have a go at making some face masks with certain foods like strawberries, oatmeal, avocados, cucumbers, or bananas. There is one home made facial scrub that I swear by which is this homemade banana mask. Start your spa treatment with your skin and hair. Wash your faces with cleanser or water and dry with a towel. Get some of that homemade face mask and put onto face avoiding near eyes, mouth, and ears. Then place some hair treatment or conditioner in your hair and wrap in a towel. After that put on a chick flick, you and your guests can indulge with snacks or sweet treats. Be careful of your face masks while eating though! Give yourself pedicures and manicures while watching another film. Soak your hands and feet in water, then remove any old nail polish. Now go paint each others nails. You should tell the girls to bring all of their polishes before the party so you have a wide variety. Ten should be enough, but try to have as many as possible.

There you have it, all the essentials you need for the perfect night in with the girls? Was there something I missed? Please leave comments below...
