5 Beauty Essentials For Autumn

Autumn is here

If you read my blog I'm pretty sure you know that Autumn is my favourite season of the year. There just seems to be something about Autumn that many people love - the chunky knits, tan boots and berry coloured lipsticks. I also find that my desire for minimal make-up goes out of the window, I can't get away with just a tinted moisturiser, a peach blush and a coral lipstick. For one the cold won't allow it because it makes my skin dry, sensitive and flaky. My face requires more make-up to hide these dry patches and so I need to take extra care of my skin during the Autumn. So without further ado I would like to share my 5 beauty essentials for Autumn.

My skin does not like the cold and I feel as if the ageing process exacerbates and makes me feel as if I need a thicker base, a matte foundation, which I know quite a lot of people choose to do in the Autumn. I love to go for natural looking bases that make me skin feel moisturised. The Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse* (£7.69) has been my go to foundation for a few months. The mousse itself is very easy to apply and feels so light on my skin that doesn't leave my skin looking oily - a perfect essential for Autumn. By having a great concealer can be the holy grail of a makeup look on cold Autumn mornings. There are so many great concealers that I could recommend but for you I will narrow it down to my two favourites: Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer and Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer. During the days where I look super tired and have big bags under my eyes the one that conceals to the max is the Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer* (£5.49) as it's packed full with vitamins and peptides that help brighten and illuminate the under eye with an instant anti-fatigue effect. Winner!!!
There's nothing worse than chapped lips with the arrival of Autumn. So it's always a good idea to keep your lips moisturised and protected with a lip balm. I love the Body Shop and their lip butters, my favourite has to be the Shea Lip Butter* (4.00) because it's so soft and has a thick consistency so a little goes a long way. I have been using this one for a few weeks now and I can already tell you that my lips are super soft and subtle so I have invested in some more lip butters, the strawberry one smells amazing.
Hand cream is a must-have all year round but more so when the cold starts to set in. A favourite of mine is the Soap & Glory Hand Food* (£5.50) as it keeps my hands moisturised and leaves them feeling softer with a subtle scent on my hands. I cannot tell you enough as to why its so important to keep those hands moisturised during the Autumn, if not you'll end up with Nanna hands by the time Christmas comes around, so always pop some in your handbag.

One product that we shouldn't forget in our essential list for Autumn is perfume, just because it's colder doesn't mean we shouldn't wear fruity fragrant scents. I have been using Hollister Wave For Her* (£30.00) A floral fruity fragrance with star fruit, cassis, and quince that makes way for wild orchid, sunset hibiscus and poppy - the perfect balance that creates a fruity scent that is subtle and not overpowering.
