Do You Kiss Your Child On The Lips?

So this photo?

What do you see?

I see a beautifully captured moment between a mother and her daughter! A great bond. A mother who loves her child. A child who adores her Mummy. But this harmless picture has been a hot topic over social media this week. This picture of Victoria Beckham kissing her daughter Harper on the lips has been faced with a backlash of criticism. To be honest this is not the first time that the Beckham's have come under fire and been trolled about their parenting skills...This snap has been liked more than half a million times and with over 4,000 comments. Whilst many have been leaving comments wishing Harper a happy birthday there were some comments that saw the picture as 'weird'! So much so that some even made comments that the picture was 'inappropriate' and in turn this has caused a debate as to whether it's appropriate to kiss your child on the lips.

I cannot believe how very sad society has become, I know that everyone is entitled to their opinion on this issue but to actually feel 'disgusted' over a mother and daughters display of affection is very worrying!!! I don't think that there is a problem with a parent showing their child affection and if we think about it if all parents showed their child more affection then maybe they will feel more loved and perhaps become open minded when they are older. Am I alone in thinking that this normal behaviour?

I have always kissed my daughter on the lips and I will continue to do so until she becomes a grumpy teenager. I do think that the people that made inappropriate comments actually need to look at the picture and see a mother kissing her daughter is simply just that, there is nothing sexual, there is nothing 'inappropriate' and it is not 'disgusting'. It is a beautifully captured moment. You can clearly see that Victoria Beckham loves her children just like I love my daughter and that will never change no matter how old she is after all love is love and a parents love for their child is like no other. I will always kiss my daughter on the lips.

I would love to know what you think, is it appropriate to kiss your child on the lips?

  1. Yesterday my son was in his carrier as we got the bus home and he suddenly gave me a great big smacker on the lips, I'd hate to think anyone on the bus was seeing that as anything other than innocent. Straight after he bit my nose but I'm sure he'll grow out of that too! #bestandworst

    1. It's so lovely when little ones give you kiss on their own accord. I only think there are a few people that think it's a sexual thing or inappropriate I think it's the most natural thing in the world and I will continue to give my daughter a big kiss on the lips!!! Thanks for your comments and for taking the time to stop by! 💗

  2. I can't believe how ridiculous this is. I cannot see the problem with it at all. I kiss my daughter on the lips all the time. I'm sure by the time she is a teenager we will have stopped but until then I will carry on.x #dreamteam

  3. I am not sure that I have ever really thought about this. It's so sad that some people seem to be able to see something other than a mom and daughter giving each other a kiss. What a time we live in. Thank you for linking up to the #DreamTeam x

    1. I couldn't actually believe what I was reading Annette! So people need to get a grip and see it as none other than a moment between mother and daughter!

  4. It's a funny old world when something like that makes the news. It's really sad that something that is very natural between a mother and daughter, is being made into something else #FridayFrolics

    1. I will continue to kiss my daughter on the lips until she is to 'cool' to anymore! I am sure that saying 'cool' will be uncool when my little one becomes a teenager!!! Lol.
